The U.S. Senate is working intently to come up with a budget acceptable to House Taliban members. The Senate leading is the reverse of the normal process. But dysfunction is the norm in any House under a Republican Speaker. The government will shut down Saturday if a CR, a continuing resolution, is not agreed by both house beforehand. There is little to no chance that the House of Representatives under the “control” of Kevin McCarthy, can grab its ass with both hands in time. The Senate going first gets McCarthy out of a bind. Also the country. Therefore, the undersigned supports the Senate’s efforts (McCarthy probably does too.).
The Senate is very seriously considering stripping its funding proposal of $24B in aid to Ukraine to appease the House Taliban. Once the CR is passed, Some lawmakers have said that they could still quickly pursue the Ukraine spending…in separate legislation once Congress deals with the immediate crisis of the potential shutdown. I thought that that would be the case and was glad to read it. I am wary of “Some lawmakers have said” that that is the case as that strongly suggests that other lawmakers say that that is not the case. There have got to be 51 senators to say that that is the case for the undersigned to lend his vanishingly insignificant support.
