Us vs Them

I have been writing for a couple of months of the current "mentality" of Trumpies Bums. Ever since I saw this interview and answer:

Steve Schmitt Q: "Ready to move on from Trump?"
Trump Bum: "Yes. But not Biden."

They resent Us for taking Trumpie from them. It makes Them think they are Losers.

I was reminded of it again in this AP article yesterday:

I’m here in part out of spiteI can’t abandon him. After what they did to him in the last election, and the political persecution he faces, I feel like I owe him this.…”-Iowa Trump Bum Marc Smiarowski, 44-year-old public utility worker.

They vote out of spite against Us for making Them Losers.

I was reminded of David Plouffe's tweet in 2016 that Trump must be crushed to ensure that his like never arises again, and a Trump Bum's reply, "You're talking about us not ever rising again."

Just so.

I was reminded of the Trump Bum mentality today in NPR:

1. Republicans have been saying they're still with Trump. Believe them.

2. Trump's criminal indictments have only helped him – at least with the GOP base.

Two-thirds said even if Trump was convicted, he would still be fit to be president.

And yesterday, for the first time, I think, I was reminded, in thinking of the mentality, of the Scandinavian Law of Jante, which I ran across years ago:
  1. You're not to think you are anything special.
  2. You're not to think you are as good as we are.
  3. You're not to think you are smarter than we are.
  4. You're not to imagine yourself better than we are.
  5. You're not to think you know more than we do.
  6. You're not to think you are more important than we are.
  7. You're not to think you are good at anything.
  8. You're not to laugh at us.
  9. You're not to think anyone cares about you.
  10. You're not to think you can teach us anything.

The Janters who transgress this unwritten "law" are regarded with suspicion and some hostility, as it goes against the town's communal desire to preserve harmony, social stability and uniformity.

I have argued that President Biden should not reprise his 2020 campaign mantra of unity, that "We are the United States of America!", because we are not united, we are Americans, they are Janters

(or Russians), and I have urged the president's campaign team to embrace the rejection, to acknowledge the division, to accept that 70M are going to vote against him no matter what he does (put another way, 70M will vote for Trump no matter what he does), to make this personal between Us and Them and go after Trump's Bums (or MAGA Extremists), to go at the spear, in other words, not just the tip; and to do so with the confidence that our slice is bigger than their slice.

Therefore, I was glad to see the president tweet last night:

Joe Biden
@JoeBiden

Looks like Donald Trump just won Iowa. He’s the clear front runner on the other side at this point. But here’s the thing: this election was always going to be you and me vs. extreme MAGA Republicans. It was true yesterday and it’ll be true tomorrow. So if you’re with us, chip in now: http://joe.link/Donate.
