Again

So Minnesota had closed to 20-13 with under 2' left in the 3Q. They had a 4th and 4 at the Iowa 14. They eschewed the FG and of course went for it since that the NCAA mandated teams try at least one, and preferably more, 4th down conversion per game. This wasn't 4th and Dumbest, merely 4th and Dumb. They were one TD away; a FG would get them within four and they would still need a touchdown. However. But. It woulda got 'em closer! And there was still more than one full quarter to play. They prolly woulda been in that zip code again you'd have to figger. And you'd also have to figger Iowa might be in the Minn zip code before the game was over and if they wuz they could turn a one TD game into a TD-and-a-half game or a two TD game. Both of those things just happened. Iowa kicked a FG from the Iowa 10 to make it 23-10 and Minnesota just scored to make it 23-19, the same 4-point deficit Minnie woulda had if they had kicked that 3Q FG! If they had kicked the FG the game would now be tied! Instead they're down 4 and Iowa has the ball with 2' left. One ought to listen to St Jerome, one ought to.
