The House did not adjourn until 10 p.m. so that two R lawmakers could fly back to D.C. to crown King Kev.
The House adjourned until 10 p.m. so that Donald J. Trump, "summoned" by King Kev, could shower, shave and fly to D.C. so that he could crown King Kev.
Imagine that scene. The Clerk calls for nominations and in through the door steps Trump.
The House vote has been banner news all week. CSPAN's ratings have been through the roof for them. It has been a humiliating week for McCarthy and R's all to end in high drama and triumph. R's would unanimously vote for McCarthy while D's looked on in Shock & Awe. It would appeal to Trump's love of high drama, to his love of the spotlight and attention, would jump start his moribund presidential campaign and electrify the GOP. Trump's supporters would see it as the Second Coming--Conquering Hero Re-Occupies Enemy Capital. It would be my worst nightmare. I am a masochist.
