Pitt is seven years and two head coaches removed from the 16-year Golden Age of “Panthers” hoops, which Golden Age ended when current freshman were 11-years old, literally beyond their memory. They have no idea that Pitt basketball was once a perennially elite college program and “The Pete” a pit where the “Panthers” almost never lost.
A college sports program can get lost irretrievably in seven years unless an inspired coaching hire works wizardry. We need a wizard now, not Jeff Capel.
