He accepted a two-year with a team option, something his camp had said was non-negotiable. In an apparent sop, the Peaceniks agreed to include a provision that increased his pay by 15% if they traded him. His camp had said that accepting the "qualifying" over, at far less compensation but with no-trade guaranteed and unrestricted free agency in 2026 was what they were going to do.

My Last--I Promise!-Post-Quack Attack in University Park Post

To: James Franklin
From: Benjamin Harris

I have thought incessantly since the White Out Debacle: Why does this keep happening to Franklin and PSU?, you know, the record against top teams. I couldn't come up with a satisfying answer until today.

I am known for sarcastic trolling, maybe you've heard, but I am not gaslighting you hear, I promise. I considered the usual suspects:  Is it a recruiting failure? No, you're a great recruiter. Is it a lack of discipline? No, you run a tight (more on that in a minuto) clean ship and your players play with discipline. Is James dumb? No, you are highly intelligent and organized. A fundamental criticism of you is that you're "just not all that" as a coach, and you have been justly criticized for your play calls in crucial situations in Big Games; you know, "Fourth and Franklin". But I have followed you and your program pretty closely since you took over 12 years ago and it just didn't add up.. It's not a fan's love; I am not a PSU fan, I am the opposite. I also don't have an electronic television machine and have never watched your team blow big games except in highlights and write-ups. So mine are not the specs for a critic offering a sincere suggestion for your consideration. But I talked to my Big Brother today, who is a PSU fan. "B.B., what did you make of the Oregon loss?"

"Ben, I tuned in at the beginning and you know what I saw? Drew Allar kneeling and saying a prayer with a teammate BEFORE the game." I interrupted him with a loud "OHHH!" that drowned him out. "I saw that and immediately fell asleep, knowing that PSU would lose. I woke up at the start of the 4th Q. Oregon was playing free and loose and having fun." "Let me make sure I understand, that seems to be a KEY point if I understand you correctly", I drilled down. "Are you saying that PSU played too "tight"? "Yes, that's exactly it." "Not that Dan Lanning is a better coach or O has more talented players but PSU is playing with their assholes tighter than a 10-year old's?" "Yes, that's it." "OHHH!" "From what you say, I think of Ryan Day. He has yet to beat Michigan and has compared those losses to the death of his father. That's just sick. But Day still won the national championship last season." "Ben, I hadn't thought about Ryan Day but you're right, that analogy is what it is. PSU plays scared and afraid to lose."

Coach, I'm not blowing smoke up your ass, you have the ability to win a natty. Do you in your heart of hearts, when you're most down on yourself, believe that you are a lesser coach than Dan Lanning,

and Marcus Freeman? I don't! And I don't particularly like you and I detest your school and PSU people grate in me. You have the nous as a coach. You have the players.

Just chill out, man! More importantly get your players to chill out. NO MORE FUCKING PRAYERS TO THE ALMIGHTY BEFORE GAMES! How 'bout a drinking game a respectable time before kickoff. James, lighten up, end Allar's religious revivals, be pos-i-tive. John Harbaugh bellowed at his team before practice started, "WHO'S GOT IT BETTER THAN US!"--at San Di-fucking-ego. Take a drink now and then to kill the bug you have up your ass and spike Allar's communion chalice with some Thunderbird.

Your record against top-6 opponents is not because you're a blockhead or your players are Pitt rejects. You're an exceptional coach with 4 and 5 ⭐s coming out your asshole.

This is a suggestion for your consideration, only that, and I really don't care what happens to you, your team or your university. But I think my Big Brother, who is astute, is right. Lighten up, Franklin.

Sincerely,
Benjamin Franklin Harris

The "Jets" may be the only team the "Dolphins" can beat right now

They are fucking pathetic. Maybe even Victimland would beat them--it might be 2-0! but Brown Turds D already got them one dub over a legitimate team. The "Jets" are not a legitimate team. Miami hung on to beat this triple-A team.

Okay, "Jets"! Only 99 yards to go in 2 seconds!

Planes try onside kick; doesn't work.

27-21, 1:49 4Q. Fields 23-yd TD pass. Guy is having a GAME.

A fucking Fast Plane just FAIR CAUGHT a punt at his own THREE!

They are so fucking incompetent, stupid, poorly-coached all those things. They've been penalized 11 times 12 times for 101 yards, have lost three fumbles and yet they're still in this Donut Bowl game!

24-13, 13:09 4Q

Planes QB Justin Fields has been outstanding. He DID give up a strip-sack fumble. But he is also Planes' leading rusher, 77 yds, 6 carries, and had a 43-yard TD run. Fields is going to get hurt. Tyreek Hill has already been carted off in an air cast with a gruesomely dislocated knee. A QB can't run as much as Fields has in this game, no matter how great an athlete he is--and Fields looked like a tight end on that TD run.

"Dolphins" in their Miami A&M unis for the Donut Bowl.

Donut Bowl Update. Miami 24 New York Fast Planes 10, 5:20 3Q

Mia. 17 NYJ 10, 8:36 3Q

"Jets" have fumbled and lost THREE fumbles.

J-E-T-S FUMBLE FUMBLE FUMBLE

QB Justin Firlds, recovered by Mia. Second of the game.

A 23-yard run for the "Jets". WTF is with Miami's run defense?!

10-0, 9:20 2Q

F-I-N-S FINS! FINS! FINS!

Miami's D was swiss cheese on that sickening 12-play, 82-yard drive that took 7' 51". But this is the Donut Bowl, and these are the "Jets", so of course they fumbled at the "Dolphin" 1-yard line and Miami recovered.

"What happened was the smartphone"

More than three hundred years after the reading revolution ushered in a new era of human knowledge, books are dying.

Numerous studies show that reading is in free-fall.

...

...In late 2024 the OECD published a report which found that literacy levels were “declining or stagnating” in most developed countries.

In America, reading for pleasure has fallen by forty per cent in the last twenty years.

Pitt didn't get any votes.

The Minn.-Pit. game was the first ever played in Dubloon. Let it be the last. Pit. backup QB was robbed Friday night and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Concussion: MCDC 34 Victimland 10

Victims have scored 16, 17, 13, and 10 points this season. They're 1-3.

ARSENAL RALLY, LEVEL IN 84', WIN IN 90+6!!!! SPECTACULAR!!! THE STUFF OF CHAMPIONS!!!

Two matches in as many weeks they have snatched victory from the asshole of defeat against quality opponents, Man City last week, at Newcastle today. Off Liverpool's loss, Arsenal are now two points from first place. 👏👏👏

Okay, Pit. won 24-21

The NFL did not make many new fans in Ireland with this one. It was a poorly played, poorly coached game.

I have only a smidgen of interest in the "Steelers" but I am a smidgen disappointed in the win. Were it not for Min.'s two INT's, Pit. would have lost. Mike Tomlin's decision to go for the 1st down on 4th and goal at the 3 with 4:14 to play and a 10-point lead is the biggest misjudgment I can remember at the professional level. By FAR the brightest spot on Steel was Kenneth Gainwell: 99 yards on 15 carries, 2 TDs.

CALL REVERSED! MIN. RETAINS POSSESSION, MIN. 25, :58 LEFT

They could do it if they didn't throw an INTERCEPTION! Carson Wentz' THIRD of the day (or night or whatever it is in Dubloon)

Min. 1st down own 20 after punt touchback. 1:01 left. They have to go 55 yds...and they can do it!

Pit. 4th and 1 at Min. 40, 1:52 left. Norse will get ball back!

If Pit. wins this game...

They have found a gem at running back in Kenneth Gainwell. In a league where the running game has been downgraded to just above the kicking game, Gainwell has 99 yards (and counting) on 18 carries.

Ooh, Pit. had 4th and goal at the Min. 3, 4:14, and passed up the FG to go for it. They FAILED.

Min. then took the ball and went 99 yds in 7 plays. It's now Pit. 24-21 with still 2:08 to play. BAD, BAD play call there by Mike Tomlin and staff.

GOAL! Newcastle 1-0 Arsenal (Woltemade 34)

Oh, Arsenal.

40 min Arsenal have lost their heads since the goal. An emotional game suits Newcastle, who are having their best spell.

Pit. got first down on a 2-yd run. Then Min. tacked on 15 yds with unnecessary roughness. Steel now 1st and goal Min. 9, 4:25 4Q

Say goodnight, Norse.

Steel first play a run for 15 yds. lol Minn.

Pit. 24-14, 7:50 4th

9 plays, 70 yds, 3:28 of clock. Wise decision to go for two after the TD. Makes it a two score (one of them a FG) game. Vikes needed that like a drunk needs a drink. It's not over.

24-6, 11:18 4th

Pit. 21 Minn. 6, 2:23 3rd

Minn. has the same record as Pit., 2-1. Minn. was a slight favorite, -1.5, but two ints have doomed them so far. Antivax Rodgers, so far, is having his best game in black and gold: 14/16, 174 yds, 1 TD, 2 sacks for -18 and a stellar QB RTG of 132.8.

Just before HT last night in Athens, Georgia,
Alabama HC Kalen DeBoer woke up the echoes of William "The Refrigerator" Perry. On 1st and 10 at the Jawja 13 DeBoer made 6'7", 366 lb offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor. Kadyn, say hello.

Coach DeBoer made Kadyn an eligible receiver, and the Bama QB threw the pass to Kadyn, too! The "Bulldogs" defense was a bit overwhelmed, figuratively and literally.

The "Tide" scored on the next play. Alabama won, 24-21.

Paterno-Sandusky fans: don't shut the fuck up. I've read two articles early this morning, one from a national reporter, one from a local, and I have no criticism to make of aficionados of the Shower Stall. James Franklin has been there 12 years. I'm going to stay in my lane and not tell others how to feel. I wish they didn't make me pay attention to them. I don't like PSU, I don't like PSU people, I wish they would go away. But they don't. They won't. Every. Fucking. Year. They're in the sports news and I notice. And then I think about them. And I write about them. And then I want to have surgery to remove the node of my brain that has "PSU" coded onto it.

Who the heck has got it better than I do, huh?

O knew that pass was going right

Look how they're lined up. SEVEN Quacks right of Allar. A loan Snit WR way out left.

No Snit goes over the middle and the guy split WAY ride left never gets a look from Allar. Allar looks right the w-h-o-l-e time.

The Snit at the top left of this screenshot is a decoy, he's going to run off the long defender. The Snit impersonating a Sumo wrestler at the 25 is Allar's target. At this millisecond, the Sumo guy is open, but no. 54 or 64 is reading Allar's eyes. and presently Mr. Sumo is going to get clandered.

Allar is cocked and about to release. The Sumo is still open but two Quacks are minding and closing on him.

Allar tried to cornhole toss it. He throws and immediately wants it back--look at his body language! He tries to get it over both Quacks who were closing on the Sumo. One of them makes a great leaping int.  In PSU's formation--and O's formation--Allar should never have attempted that throw and should have thrown it away. He knows it. It was a bad mistake.

And that, Ladies and gentlemenz was ball-game.

It has started

The Shit-on-James-Franklin show has started. His record against top-10 team has started. Little Game James has started. Franklin didn't throw that intercept. The QB probably should not have thrown that ball. The right sideline was verily crowded with Snits and Quacks and Allar, the QB, tried to dink it over the up defender. News flash to Allar: your intended was covered and LEVELED. That ball was never going to be completed. Allar was looking right the whole way, too. He should have gone through his reads or thrown it away. It was never gettin' there on the right sideline. NOT FRANKLIN'S FAULT. PSU FANS, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT. SHUT THE FUCK UP YOUR MOUTHS YOU ENTITLED LITTLE EFFETE SHITS!

NO! I DID KNOW THE RULES! PSU DID GET THE BALL. THE QB THREW AN INT. ON THE FIRST PLAY!

Comey Confusion: Did They Indict?

U.S. Magistrate Judge Lindsey Vaala to Trump prosecutor Lindsey Halligan:

"So this has never happened before. I've been handed two documents that are in the Mr. Comey case that are inconsistent with one another. There seems to be a discrepancy. They're both signed by the (grand jury) foreperson.

"The one that says it's a failure to concur in an indictment, it doesn't say with respect to one count. It looks like they failed to concur across all three counts, so I'm a little confused as to why I was handed two things with the same case number that are inconsistent."

Halligan to Vaala:

"So I only reviewed the one with the two counts that our office redrafted when we found out about the two — two counts that were true billed, and I signed that one. I did not see the other one. I don't know where that came from,"

Vaala to Halligan:

"You didn't see it?"

Halligan to Vaala:

"I did not see that one."

Vaala to Halligan:

"So your office didn't prepare the indictment that they —"

Halligan to Vaala:

"No, no, no — I — no, I prepared three counts. I only signed the one — the two-count (indictment). I don't know which one with three counts you have in your hands."

Vaala to Halligan:

"Okay. It has your signature on it."

Halligan to Vaala:

"Okay. Well."

America 2.0

A conviction may be beside the point for the Justice Department as it pursues case against Comey

As the administration aims to comply with Trump’s ordered prosecutions, officials have signaled that making life uncomfortable for targets of the retribution — including through reputational harm, legal fees and lingering uncertainty — is a desired goal in its own right, separate and apart from the ability to secure a guilty verdict.

...

In May, Ed Martin, who leads the administration’s “weaponization working group,” pledged to call out “really bad actors” even when they can’t be prosecuted and even though longstanding Justice Department policies dictate against public disparagement of the uncharged.

“If they can be charged,” he said, “we will charge them. If they cannot be charged, we will name them. In a culture that respects shame, there should be people who are shamed.”
...
Trump proclaims ‘justice’

Trump has loudly cheered the indictment with social media posts over the last day that say “JUSTICE IN AMERICA”...
...
The fact that Trump is making posts expressing profound personal satisfaction while a case is pending — potentially endangering its viability in court — is one indication that the administration has other goals besides getting a conviction, said Peter Keisler, a former Justice Department official who served as acting attorney general for a period during President George W. Bush’s administration.

“If you cared about actually making it stick, you wouldn’t have the president issue public statements advertising his vindictive motive,” he said.

Though vindictive prosecution motions don’t often succeed, “This is one of the very rare cases where the public record — and it’s a public record that the president himself has built — would make such a motion very strong,” Keisler added.

“It’s still the case that Jim Comey has to retain a lawyer, has to go through the process of being criminally tried if he doesn’t get the case dismissed first. And nobody can face the prospect of a criminal trial with complete equanimity even when they know there’s no merit to the charge and even when it’s a public fact that the only reason it was sought is as an act of vindictive retribution.”

AP

5:10 pm:

Trump Now Going to Arrest George Soros

A senior Justice Department official has instructed more than a half dozen U.S. attorney’s offices to draft plans to investigate a group funded by George Soros, the billionaire Democratic donor whom President Trump has demanded be thrown in jail.

The official’s directive, a copy of which was viewed by The New York Times, goes as far as to list possible charges prosecutors could file, ranging from arson to material support of terrorism. The memo suggests department leaders are following orders from the president that specific people or groups be subject to criminal investigation...

The step came in an accelerated push by the Justice Department against Mr. Trump’s perceived enemies in recent days and weeks.

...After the killing of the right-wing activist Charlie Kirk in Utah this month, the president threatened to use the levers of government to silence liberal protesters and donors to progressive groups, including Mr. Soros.

The .44's first round draft pick (20th) in the 2020 draft was dealt with Goran Dragic to Tonto in the Kyle Lowry Effect trade. Which trade BLEW. So now no. 20 in 2020 is back. Season tickets going fast!

Newly appointed US attorney will attempt to charge James Comey despite prosecutors finding no probable cause

Earlier this week, prosecutors presented Lindsey Halligan -- Trump’s former personal attorney whom he appointed to lead the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia -- with a detailed memo recommending that she decline to bring perjury and obstruction charges against Comey....

A monthslong investigation into Comey by DOJ prosecutors failed to establish probable cause of a crime -- meaning that not only would they be unable to secure a conviction of Comey by proving the claims beyond a reasonable doubt, but that they couldn’t reach a significantly lower standard to secure an indictment

According to Justice Department guidelines, prosecutors are generally barred from bringing charges unless they can prove a defendant will "more likely than not be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by an unbiased trier of fact and that the conviction will be upheld on appeal."

Despite their recommendations, Halligan -- who has never prosecuted a criminal case in her career as an insurance lawyer -- plans to present evidence to a grand jury before the statute of limitations for the alleged offense expires next week...

Halligan’s apparent plan to seek charges against Comey follows a clear directive from Trump, who over the weekend directly called for prosecutions against Comey, Sen. Adam Schiff and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

...Halligan’s deputy -- a prosecutor who was briefly assigned to lead the office just a day before Trump appointed Halligan to the high-profile position -- has also expressed reservations about bringing the politically charged case.

I got Queen Korat the Eleventh a ball of yarn.

🐈‍⬛"Dad, stringy things make me sing."

Do you believe in curses? Do you believe in luck, good and bad?

Is it all human human agency? How do you explain the New York "Jets" near fifty year run of futility? No matter the owner, the coach, the players, I don't know, no matter where they play, the "Jets" blow. Throughout your lifetime and almost all of mine the "Jets" have been a joke.

They once shocked the world. They were the other team in New York. They played in the other league. They had a QB nicknamed "Broadway Joe". The "Heidi Game". The "guarantee". Super Bowl III champions. Bachelors III. There were mysterious, fascinating, unbelievable occurrences associated with this franchise. They were legendary. Poof! It's hard to comprehend 48 years of a spin cycle that never stops.

This star-crossed, incompetent--whatever your explanation--franchise lost again yesterday. They're a perfect 0 and III. That's III times in six years they've started a season 0-III. They haven't even made the playoffs in fifteen years. That's hard to do even if you try. They are tied for the fourth all-time piss poor win percentage among current (32!) NFL teams.

Sunday will see an epic battle, the Futility Bowl. The 0-3 "Jets" at the 0-3 "Dolphins". Miami head coach Mike McDaniels' future likely rests on the outcome of that game. After all, if you lose to the "Jets"???

What was shaping up as a stand-out season in central New York has turned to tragedy. Syracuse star QB Steve Angeli went down in a no-contact play yesterday at Clemson. No-contact injuries are often the worst and today it was confirmed: Angeli tore his Achilles tendon. He is done for the year.

The Embarrassment

Bill Belichick is 73 years old. He can't coach anymore. He seems not all there. "Creepy and weird. Something’s wrong with that guy," a fan wrote on social media. The fan was commenting on Belichick' on-field, off-field relationship with his 24-year old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson. For it is clear that this is a female-led relationship.

Hudson cut off an interview of Belichick. She has been on the sidelines with Belichick, conversing with him--the fucking HEAD COACH--throughout his short (already too longgg) tenure at North Carolina-Belichick.

If the University of North Carolina was shameable, if it was capable of embarrassment, if it cared about its reputation, if it was remotely aware that big-time college athletics are "the front porch" of its presentment to the public--hell, if they even cared about wins and losses!--they would put this non compos mentis old
man out to pasture with his young filly.

Erling scored in the 9' and then...PEP PARKED THE BUS! Arsenal had 68% possession! When was the last time an opponent of Pep had such City-like dominance. The unheard of strategy clearly flummoxed Mikel Arteta and we were on our way to an unlikely victory in the unlikeliest way. But, in 90+2 Arsenal equalized. Pep showed me today. He can change. He is a master strategist.

The Blunder

North Carolina-Belichick entered its game in Orlando against Scott Frost's UCF "Knights" with a 2-1 record (dubs over cupcakes, a blowout L in The Coming to TCU) and as a -6.5 dog. They exited with a 2-2 record and a second pasting by a legit team, 34-9.

Curt Cignetti is going to beat Illinois back to the Lovie Smith era.

Good God, man.

No. 4 Miami Gardens is going to be Flarida. It's 19-7, 2:52 left and UMG is at FU 2. FU CAN'T SCORE!

Oh my goodness...No. 19 Indiana is SMEARING no. 9 Illinoise 63-10, 2:36 to play. Bielema coaches Illinoise, doesn't he?

A classic quote from Clemson's Dabo Swinney that is useful in a broader context than football: "There's no hope for a better yesterday." Tar Heel fans in particular and my fellow anti-Trump friends, heed that thought.

3-and-out second drive. lol FU.

First play 2nd drive, run no gain.

Miami Gardens (4) 7 Flarida 0, 9:25 1Q

FU went 3-and-out on their first drive...and lost 5 yards. Why their offense is so piss poor--and has been throughout Billy Naps' tenure, is a mystery, to me at least. They have a 5⭐QB, DJ Lagway, and can't move the ball.

Mi. recovered, the swine

You know...Nebraska kicked this game away. Matt Rhule went for it on 4th down at the 'Een 6 on the first drive of the game. Didn't get it. That's -3. Then Neb. threw an INT. and Mi. scored a TD on the next play. We're -10. Then Neb. missed a FG. That's -13. "Huskers" lose by 3. Shoulda won by 10.

Neb. 27 Mi. 30, 1:34 left. ANYTHING'S POSSIBLE! An honest kick...that's about the only thing.

Five⭐Bryce Underwood ran 37 yards for the TD. Neb. QB Dylan Riola threw the INT. that, the next play, produced the Mi. score. *Ouch* First possession of game, Neb. went 70 yards down to the Mi. 6. They went for it on 4th and 2, passed and got 1 yard. Next series, Neb. missed a 44-yard FG. So Neb. gifted Mi. 7 and then missed 6 of their own.

Scholarly Tackle

Schadenfreude Saturday started a day early.

First, where the waters run still, a Golden Hurricane blew. 13.5 point dog Tulsa led 19-3 entering the 4th quarter against a pathetic Oklahoma State O and won 19-12 over "I'm a (beaten) man" Mike Gundy.

A half-hour later, in front of a sold-out Shi'a Stadium in Piscataway, the b1gest B1G game of Greg Schiano Parte Deux started. Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh OH! Iowa ran the opening kick back 104 yards untouched by any Scarlet Pimpernel. But in a twist, the Red Coats recovered, and more. Yeah, really! They led 28-24 five mins into the 4th quarter. Birds of Prey scored tyoo touchdowns in the last five minutes sending 56,000 Shi'ites home red-faced agayne.

A kick-start to another Schadenfreude Saturday.  Who will it be today? Will Meeshagan break "Husker" hearts in Lincoln? Will a green wave wash over Oxford, Mississippi? Will the "Hurricanes" taper off to zephyrs against Billy Nap's Army in Miami Gardens? Will unbeaten East Lansing Spartak march into the Los Angeles Coliseum and defeat the no. 25, 19.5 favored Men of Troy?

That is 100% accurate. Tua "stared down" his intended target, telegraphing the throw air mail. The result of a college freshman mistake in the NFL, is foregone.

Just stating facts: Greg Cote (Miami Herald), and Dave Hyde (Sun-Sentinel) were enthusiastic all-ins on "Tanking for Tua." I wrote that he couldn't play. Sometimes the blind hog roots out the truffle.
