For Economic Democracy*

I believe that we should have some democracy in our wealth distribution. We have absolute democracy in politics: one man-one vote. In wealth distribution we have the equivalent of one man-one billion votes. In my view we should do better than that. The current situation is not consistent with our principles of equality and fairness.

Capitalism is neither good nor bad. It is just a machine. It is the greatest wealth-producing machine that has ever been invented. Good or bad results from the actions that people take on the product of the machine. Giving all of the product to one person would be bad. I believe that we give too much of it to too few.

This is not socialism, which puts at least some of the means of production into the hands of the state. That system is not as good a machine for the production of wealth as is capitalism. So I favor the capitalist machine with a more equitable distribution of the product of the machine. I am Benjamin Harris.
