Gov. John Kasich of Ohio released a statement expressing grief at the attack in Baton Rouge, La., but a spokeswoman said he would not move to restrict the brandishing of guns around the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, which begins on Monday.

Mr. Kasich’s office rejected the idea as legally impossible.

“Ohio governors do not have the power to arbitrarily suspend federal and state constitutional rights or state laws as suggested,” Ms. Kalmbach said.

The Secret Service has tighter restrictions for people attending the convention inside the Quicken Loans Arena, including a ban on firearms.

I thought this fucking idea was resolved. I guess just "inside" the convention. Kasich can't? What if he declares martial law? A governor can declare martial law, can't he? I guess he can't or doesn't think he can. President Obama must step in here. He can declare martial law and suspend federal and state constitutional rights. I renew my call that no firearms be permitted within shooting distance of the Quicken Loans Arena. The lives of Cleveland's citizens, the convention's delegates, Donald Trump, and Cleveland's police officers depend on it.
