I thought last night, and it sounds like President Zelensky thought, that Russian troops deliberately were going to cause it to explode which would have...I actually have no idea what happens if you bomb a nuclear reactor...released a humongous radioactive cloud, at the least, I would think. But, the Russians put the fire out and no radioactive leak ever occurred.
Although it seems ages ago now the attack on the Zaporizhzhia site is Putin's second. In the first day or two of the war he seized Chernobyl, not an active power plant. Hasn't done anything with Chernobyl either.
I don't know what the guy's up to. I thought with Chernobyl it was to hold Europe hostage too. When he seized Zaporizhzhia I thought the same, or, that he was going to limit electricity to Europe in response to the West's sanctions. Without Russian oil, and without the electricity from Europe's largest nuclear facility I would think that Europe would be pretty squeezed. But I don't know.
