Jack Smith's office immediately moved for a protective order. This is what it said:
“All the proposed order seeks to prevent is the improper dissemination or use of discovery materials, including to the public. Such a restriction is particularly important in this case because the defendant has previously issued public statements on social media regarding witnesses, judges, attorneys, and others associated with legal matters pending against him. … And in recent days, regarding this case, the defendant has issued multiple posts—either specifically or by implication—including the following, which the defendant posted just hours ago.”
Seems obvious, right? He went after Pence right after that post, the judge, Smith, as he always does. Trumpie's spokesman's response was weird to me though:
“The Truth post cited is the definition of political speech, and was in response to the RINO, China-loving, dishonest special interest groups and Super PACs, like the ones funded by the Koch brothers and the Club for No Growth,”
Special interest groups and Super PACs? What? Trumpie's people wanted to avoid something, the real target of his threat: Not a witness, not Smith, not the judge: Biden, the president of the United States. And a threat aimed at the president of the United States is a separate, very serious, crime, with a low trigger for law enforcement action. That is what Trumpie was doing, dog-whistling to his supporters. "Will be wild!"
