Interesting intellectual exercise the NYT Editorial Board proposes to Republicans:
Put aside, for the moment, everything [else]...Consider only what is now on reams of legal paper before the American people: evidence of extraordinarily serious crimes, so overwhelming that many other defendants would have already negotiated a plea bargain rather than go to trial. This is what he faces as he asks...for the votes of millions of Americans.
That is, if a generic candidate announced his candidacy today facing four criminal trials before the election what would Republican voters do in the primaries?
