I was just watching PennLive and the college tackle football podcast of John McGonigle and Bob Flounders. They were doing their CFP playoff game predictions. It was the first time I had given any thought to the outcomes of the games. McGonigle picked m to beat Alabama but Flounders picked Bama, and when I heard Flounders pick I realized this was the answer to all of our dreams—and the end of our nightmare. For if m won that game and then beat the winner of Texas-Washington (both picked Texas) m would win the natty…and it would be vacated in 1-3 years when the NCAA penalized them for a lack of institutional control (over Harbaugh). m winning the natty is the nightmare of course but a post-facto vacating when Harbaugh is back in the NFL would still give mm bragging rights that “we won it on the field.” But if they LOSE—mm want this natty desperately; they say this is their best team in a generation—so if they LOSE we Normal People have triple the pleasure, a m loss, subsequent SEVERE penalties AND mocking rights for eternity: "'Member that time you cheated and got the death penalty and STILL lost lol!" And it very reasonably could happen. GEORGIA'S defense couldn't contain Jalen Milroe and m's offense is going to run into a ferocious Bama defense. An Alabama win, well that would be more fun than I can say cupcake.
