That from Ernst "Putzi" Hanfstaengle, one of Hitler's closest friends.

I wonder if Hanfstaengle meant that literally. Hitler's voice was throaty. Was there something in the physiology of his throat that enabled him to hold listeners spell-bound?

I neither speak nor understand a word of German and hence never could feel the force of Hitler's speeches. Even not, sometimes one can sense the power of a speaker from his diction, his cadence and the force of his delivery. I can feel the force! But all I get was the throaty, raspy, shouted harangue.
