I am struck by the similarities in Hitler's early years and those of Mao Zedong. Neither wanted to "get a job". Both were lazy, preferring to follow their dreams of becoming an artist in the one, a poet-philosopher in the other. Both had severe conflicts with their fathers as result. To each, other humans were an unvariegated mass, headless, faceless, "stuffed sacks" in the one, "blank slates" in the other. Both went on to achieve great renown and demonstrable excellence only in the art and science of mass murder.
