Houston now leads Buffalo in points 19-16, 3:45 4Q.

It's weird but Buffalo reminds me of Cleveland in ways I can't explain.
"Everyone has a bad day. Everyone has a bad day in court where they throw a briefcase at opposing counsel or stab your client in the courtroom. Everyone has a bad day like that."

Houston leads Buffalo 4-2 in punts, 10:13 3Q.

Liverpool will go unbeaten this season, matching Arsenal's Invincibles, and besting them with fewer draws.

The "Heat" are tired, man. Spoelstra's gotta watch this now. That's two losses in three games and he put them through a grueling workout Thursday before Thursday night's 15-rounder against Toronto. In the last ten days they have played six games, four of them went down to, and in one case, over, the wire; four of the games against top flight competition, all wins by the way, the other two blowout losses on the road against dreck. They were tired going into the DC game and a glorified G-League roster wasted them. They played no D against DC and Spoelstra got pissed. I get that. The Thursday gauntlet paid off in the next game but Spoelstra has got to be more careful running this short-handed team through a practice gauntlet, then playing an Ali-Frazier IV game and then going on the road the next night. They just ran out of gas in the 4th quarter. 21-6 is proof evident presumption great there were dead men walking in Mickey Mouseville tonight.

It is a tradeoff, the extent to which a coach and an organization demand furious 48-minutes-of-hell defense. The tradeoff comes at the expense of offense. The "Heat" continued to play great defense tonight, holding Orlando to 40.7% shooting. But that came at the expense of the "Heat" offense, which shot 37.5%.

So now they've endured a humiliating blowout playing no D, rebounded (so to speak) after Basic Training to grind the "Raptors" into dust with their D, and tonight went on the road ("on the road" should be like that; it was in Orlando for Godssake, not Guam), played good D again and got blown out because they were exhausted on offense from playing defense.

Spo uses his entire roster, I'll give him that. Every game, seemingly, and tonight too, he plays ten guys. The problem is not minute management, there are no 48' guys, everybody who does play usually gets about 30'. It is the two-way 100%-effort-100%-of-the-time demand, and the intensity of the practices that are the problems, The only players eligible to play tonight who didn't were UD, JJ and D-Wait. They are down Justise Winslow, too. It is so weird man, that kid's situation, he has missed twenty-five of Miami's thirty-five games--with puzzling injuries, if we're being told the truth. It's like game eight or something that he's been out with, first it was explained to us, a lower back strain, then after several of those missed games it was a bone bruise. I am not a big Justise fan but, well, two buts: first but: "Heat" management, i.e. Riles, Andy, Spo love the kid, just love him, rave about him; he is versatile, I'll give him that. You need somebody else to brick 40%? Justise, step right up, son. (unkind, very unkind of me; I apologize); second but: Love him or not Justise is another body and that more than anything, I don't care if it's Alan Ogg, the "Heat" need every damn player they can get their hands on.

But they can't. Chris Silva is on a REACT belt that automatically zaps him into putty in which condition the "Heat" must send him to the Rapid City "Thrillers"; UD, bless UD, UD WE LOVE YOU!, UD for like three years has done his best imitation of a potted plant on the bench. UD's got fucking carbuncles on his ass from all the sitting on pine he does, and JJ and Dion are not even warming wood, they're worm wood; you drink from the poisoned chalice of those two and the green fairy starts dancing in your fucking head. And see, the problem is, they won't get rid of UD, they won't rush J-Wins back from the chiropractor or the electric-shock therapist as the case may be (I am just a bad man), they can't trade JJ and Dion, they can't cut them and sign two more frisky G-Leaguers whose brain cells are not THC addled because the "Heat" are hard-capped; they cannot do anything with the ~$30 million they have tied up in the THC Twins; if they cut them they could not spend that money; and Spo would rather stick needles in his eyes than play them (He may have to get used to the needles.)

In a word, the "Heat" are FUCKED when it comes to JJ and Dion. FUCKED when it comes to UD, FUCKED on Chris, FUCKED on Justise. Which means, isn't it obvious?: Eric Spoelstra has got to LIGHTEN THE FUCK UP on the Culture of S&M D. Look: the team has run out of gas two of the last three games, you know what's coming next: injuries. Serious ones. Knees, ankles, corpuscles, whatever. There are forty-seven games left to play. If this team makes it intact through 82, what's their reward? "The game only starts in the playoffs." You hear that over and over and over again. You think the NBA regular season is a fatiguing, draining, injuring, ennuing marathon. "Okay, time for SPRINTS! "Gotta pick it up a notch or three fellas, this is the playoffs!" They don't have another notch to pick it up, they've run out of gears, they're in fifth and the engine is screaming. Lighten the fuck up, Spo, or this season could go poof!

I'm going to go ahead and give out some NBA end-of-season awards. Yeah it's a little early, 41% of the games played, whatever, there is no doubt about these:

Executive of the Year, which the spec for is General Manager: Andy Elisburg
Coach of the Year: Erik Spoelstra
Most Improved Player: Bam Adebayo

Look: Miami is on pace to win sixty games this year. Pause. Blink. Gasp. Unpause. and they have been consistent at that pace through thirty-four games. There is no reasonable doubt that they will get to sixty, or very close. When they finish, say with sixty wins that will be a twenty-one game improvement over last season; a sixteen game bump from 2017/18; and nineteen games better than 16/17. That is literally hard to believe.

Why no Rookie of the Year? Ja Morant of Memphis has better numbers but it's mainly because Miami has two candidates and they're splitting the vote. RevelatioNUNN is second and the hero Herro third as top rooks per NBA.com. Does it matter if a rookie does it with a good team as opposed to a mediocre or crappy team? I think you can make the case both ways. Now if a rookie is the best player on a good team that matters. That is what I saw in Nunn in the Philadelphia game in Miami. When a rookie comes up big in big games that matters. By definition, good teams play more big games. But Kendrick is not the best player on the "Heat" so I don't think he's going to get that advantage over Morant. There's another thing and this hurts Kendrick: He's 24 years old, not 19 as Tyler is and although this is Kendrick's first season in the NBA he did play semi-pro for Santa Cruz of the G-League in 2018/19. When you think of a rookie, you think of a 19-21 year old who spent last year in college, who has been shaving for three years and cut himself both times. That's Tyler Herro whose face ought to be next to the Merriam-Webster definition of "rookie." You think of 20 year-old Ja Morant. You don't think of a 24 year-old. Only if Kendrick has games like he did against Philly all through the second half of the season would he become ROTY.

So, what about Tyler? The problem with Tyler's candidacy is that he doesn't even start for his team. That is definitely relevant and it should be. Morant has started every one of Memphis' games and Kendrick has started every one of Miami's. Thus, for the aforesaid reasons no ROTY in Miami. What of Sixth Man of the Year? By definition the sixth man doesn't start. I can see that so why can't I see Tyler winning Sixth Man of the Year? Because he's a rookie. No, I don't know.
Not a trap game. "Heat" will win.

FT Miami 84 Toronto 76

Spo got 'em playing D tonight hoo doggie.

That's like a college basketball score. Tonto shot 31.5% from the field. Thirty-one and a half! That's a college shooting stat. You know what they shot from three? Guess. I don't know like 20%? 14.3.

Thirty-three games in Miami has still not lost two in a row. That's a very good thing. This is not a team of streaks, it is a consistent team.

NBA box scores are so weird. The "Heat" only shot 40.7% (32.4%). That's a below average percentage from range but within a standard deviation or two. For the winning team to shoot only 40.7% (which includes the percentage from range) from the field--that's low. Jimmy only had eight total points. 2/10, didn't attempt a three. So this being the "Heat" you'd assume they won it 'cause Jimmy went like 15/18 from the free throw line, no? No. The entire fucking team went 54.5% from the line! That's a Shaq number right there. Jimmy was 4/7! But Jimmy being Jimmy, add 12 boards, 7 assists, 2 steals and a partridge in a pear tree. I think I know the reason for all of this iron work. Defense takes a lot of effort. It's gotta effect your shooting. You're tired! It seems to me it must be a trade-off for a coach. If you're holding the other guys, especially a team like Toronto (23-11 coming in) to 31.5% you are playing some ferocious defense. You're not gonna wanna drive to the basket after playing glue D. So Jimmy didn't is my guess from the box score. And you're not going to have your legs under you to shoot from the outside. It just makes sense, I don't know for sure if it's true but it makes sense to me.

Bam had a normal Bam game, 15, 14, 2, and 1 block. Did have 4 TO's. Bam was team high with 15. College team high--on the losing team. Weird. Kendrick had a putrid night shooting, 3/14, 1/9. Did have 9 assists! The "Heat" do it so many ways. Game ball goes to two guys...off the bench (They do you so many ways), in fact two of the last three off the bench:  DJonesJr 10, 6, 2 steals and a block and Tyler 13 (5/10, 3/6), 4 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal.

The Psycho-Sexual Origins of the American Revolution

"In Europe charters of liberty have been granted by power. America has set the example...of charters of power granted by liberty. This revolution in the practice of the world may...be...the most consoling presage of its happiness."-James Madison, 1792

Orgasms R Us! We are the happiness society! Notice there how Madison reverses sexual practice (see below). Liberty is female; power is male. We are a female led society.

“Ȝeue þi cunte to cunnig & craue affetir wedding" (“Give your cunt wisely & make demands after the wedding”)-Proverbs of Hendyng, c.1325.

The Founding Fathers were a cunning bunch of Hendyng transvestites inside a Trojan Horse.

"The theory of politics...of the pre-Revolutionary years...what lay behind every political scene...was the disposition of power. The acuteness of the colonists' sense of [power] is, for the twentieth-century reader, one of the most striking things...[and] serves to link the Revolutionary generation to our own in the most intimate way."-Bernard Bailyn, Ideological Origins

I underlined the above from Bailyn and circled "intimate." Intimate? Odd word for the reader to encounter on the first page of Chapter III Power and Liberty: A Theory of Politics.

"The essence of what they meant by power was perhaps best revealed inadvertently by John Adams as he groped for words..." Circle "groped."

Wtf? to self.

"[Power]...was...for them as it is for us 'a richly connotative word': some of its fascination may well have lain for them, as it has been said to lie for us, in its 'sado-masochistic flavor..."

Underlined; margin note "What?"; circle "sado-masochistic flavor"

"...for they dwelt on it endlessly, almost compulsively..."
"Most commonly the discussion of power centered on its essential characteristic of aggressiveness:...endlessly propulsive tendency to expand itself..."

"Well you're the one with the dirty book" joke thought bubble.

"The image most commonly used was that of...trespassing. Power, it was said over and over again, ["compulsively," to self]...if at first it meets with no control (it) creeps by degrees and quick subdues the whole."

"Every move you make, every step you take..."

What makes trespass? Lack of consent. What makes rape?

"Sometimes the image is of the human hand, 'the hand of power," reaching out to [grab them by the pussy] clutch and to seize: power is 'grasping'...'what it seizes it will retain."

"Sometimes it is motion, desire, and appetite all at once, being "restless, aspiring, and insatiable."

"...the sphere of power and the sphere of liberty...The one was brutal, ceaselessly active, and heedless; the other was delicate, passive, and sensitive. The one must be resisted, the other defended..."

"Man, Woman" in margin

"...innocence and justice can only sigh and quietly submit." "Sex also!!," margin.

"Not that power was in itself...evil."

"It was natural in its origins, and necessary. It had legitimate functions foundations 'in compact and mutual consent"...as a result of restrictions voluntarily accepted by all..."

Footnote 4 page 58:

"Now, because liberty chastises and shortens power, therefore power would extinguish liberty; and consequently liberty has too much cause to be exceeding jealous, and always upon her defense. Power has many advantages over her..." (emphasis added) "Sex with check mark", margin.

They were girls. They viewed themselves as girls.

"...so that she has, as it were, the enemy always at her gates."

The British are Coming! The British are Cumming!

"The implicitly sexual character of the imagery is made quite explicit in passages of the libertine libertarian literature, e.g.,...'the interest of freedom is a virgin, that everyone seeks to deflower'; if it is not properly protected '(so great is the lust of mankind after dominion) there follows a rape upon the first opportunity." (emphasis added) "*” in margin; "Liberty-Libertine" at bottom.

Like a virgin, ooh. Raped for the very first time

"...liberty, always weak, always defensive, always, as John Adams put it, 'skulking about in corners...hunted...in all countries by cruel power..." "Stalked" in margin.

"Liberty was...for the colonists...the interest and concern...only of the governed."

That is an important passage. Their fear was emasculation. The colonists, all men writing this shit, saw themselves as women, as the bitches for the British. They thought they were going to get bung-holed every time they went out to use the ATM (Louis CK). The colonists were homophobes but cross-dressers, too; they were paranoid that the British were going to bugger them, leave their assholes leaking sperm and hanging like wizard sleeves, making sitting down uncomfortable.

At the top of this page (59): "All of this thought on power and liberty and black slavery never is mentioned by them." And I think that is one of the roots of this sexual paranoia. The colonists had by this time thousands upon thousands of black men, black men chosen in Africa for their youth and physical power, their bodies, their power, all too visible to the colonists beneath their rag clothing, living among them while they walked around dressed like women in knee breeches. Footnote 8 p 149: " [British emissary Dr. John] Fothergill admitted...that there was a high degree of 'national corruption," [in England] which he explained...as a result of...the sensualism and libertinism generated by slavery that the West India planters brought back to England." Liberty-Libertinism.

At the beginning of the fifteen page section on slavery in the chapter The Contagion of Liberty Bailyn quotes John Dickinson and here the implicit connections among political power-sexual power-homophobia-rape-slavery are implicit to a transparent degree as to make them explicit:

"Those who are taxed without their own consent...are slaves. We are taxed without our consent...We are therefore--SLAVES." (italics and caps, Dickinson; bold, undersigned)

"This was not simply lurid rhetoric."

Pause: Bailyn, my God, all of this is the most "lurid rhetoric," one wants to take a shower after reading.* How in God's name can your write such garbage? Unpause.

"Slavery as a political concept had specific meaning which a later generation would lose."

By the time of reading this section I had long lost complete patience with Bailyn. That is simply not true; it is simply not true that slavery as a political concept had specific meaning" to eighteenth-century Americans" that "a later generation would lose." Untrue. Floridly, ludicrously UNTRUE. (pissed, by me).

"To eighteenth-century Americans it meant...'a force...by which a man is obliged to act, or not to act, according to the arbitrary will and pleasure of another."

"pleasure" circled.

The last section of Ideological Origins is titled "Fulfillment" (O! O! O! Was it good for you too?). After the revolting Revolution, pre-Constitution, "the central task was reversed." They wore reversible clothing. "Now the goal...was the creation...of...a government dominant over all other...diametrically opposite to the goals of the pre-Revolutionary years." ("Now you can't tell who is who can you?" "No.") They were cunnig cuntes. The colonists made the British crown "prisoners of their own device:" the intellectual and literary heritage of the common law, of Locke and Hobbes, of the Glorious Revolution, of Chaucer, Donne and Shakespeare, yes, of Hendyng too. Now they made their demands. The federalists now assumed manly clothing and used their new-won power to make prisoners of the anti-federalists who still stood, gaping, in their girls dresses. The new federal government, through its taxing (?)(I really wonder sometimes if subliminally these cuckolded perverts saw "tax" and read "sex")) power, the anti-fed "Brutus" wrote,

" will wait upon the ladies at their toilett, and will not leave them...will accompany them to the ball...sit beside them in their carriages...enter the house of every gentleman, watch over...follow...attend him to his bed-chamber,...watch him...watch...follow...haunt him...in his bed...observe...penetrate...it will address them...GIVE! GIVE!"..."This they too [federalists and anti-federalists]...continued to believe was the ultimate tyranny.""Sexual tyranny!", margin note.

I wanted to add this before being DONE with Ideological Origins.

*In fact I did take a shower after composing this post and as the water first hit me I groaned and shook my head from side to side in disgust.
Well, one last one. This Georgia-Baylor game has really been extraordinary. Baylor has been well nigh unstoppable in the second half and they have stopped Georgia. Georgia's only TD came derivatively from a fake FG and Baylor is again at the Georgia one yard-line...and, what happened? Georgia has the ball on their own 40 second down and two to go. Baylor had to have turned it over...No, I read that wrong. I could have sworn it said first and goal Baylor from the Georgia one. It now says Baylor punted on 4th and 3 from the Georgia 48 and the ball was downed on the UGA one, UGA to get possession, obviously. Boy, that's a punt you can question. The fad of going for it on 4th down faded in this game, evidently. UGA really had not stopped them this half. I would have bet Baylor would have gone for it there. But they did get the perfect punt down at the 1. Problem is they didn't stop Georgia on this drive. Georgia is down to the Baylor 10, first and goal. There are 9'48" left in the game. A UGA TD here and that's all she wrote. No, my bad again. I'm too tired to do this and am fucking up. Georgia punted and the ball was downed at the Baylor 10, Baylor with the ball. Sorry about that gals and gal-guys. I posted one more than I shoulda. Arright, later sooners. I'm really most sincerely done.

Barn burner in the second half at the Superdome in Nawlins. Baylor made it 19-7; Georgia made it 26-7. Now Baylor is agayne at the Georgia 2 and before I finish typing this will almost certainly have made it 26-14. Well not white. 3rd and goal now...Now they did. 26-14 Georgia, 4’ left 3rd. This here barn is gonna hava burn without my learned live blogging. I’m sleepy. Night dogs and bears.
Well! The "Raping Bears" took the second half kick off and went 75 yards on eight plays through the Georgia defense like a steel pole through a restrained lubed asshole to get back in the game 19-7. That is surprising.
Boy oh boy, Jake Fromm UGA's QB threw two perfect passes for TD's in the first half. The first, to make it 10-0 was a 27 yard fade into the near corner of the end zone; the second a 16-yarder through traffic in the middle of the end zone hit the receiver--who was covered!--right in the bread basket right before the half to make it 19-0. That young man gonna be playin' a lot on Sunday's. Hard to find two more perfectly thrown balls in college or the pros.
Georgia is up 13-0 over the “Raping Bears” with 2’ before HT and the “Silver Britches” in the red zone agayne. My $100 with the House looks safe. I was talking about the conferences in an earlier post and mentioned the ACC as being “Almost Competitive” agayne and I neglected the Big XII. The Big XII has had a brutal post-season, 1-4 going into tonight, soon to be 1-5. The SEC (Georgia) is and always has been the gold standard and they are 5-2, again excluding the in-progress game. The ACC is 4-5 and if I were a betting man (and I am) I would invest in the prospect of the ACC finishing the bowl season 4-7, which is going to be almost, not quite, barely competitive.

Big win for #6 Oregon and the PAC 12 tonight over B1G #8 Wisconsin in the Playstation Rose Bowl presented by Mutual of Omaha. The PAC men go to 4-3 this season whilst the B1G drops to 4-4 with only one bowl left to play.

...19-0 Georgia now at the half.

Sugar Bowl

Georgia-Baylor. Oh, har dee har-har. "Dawgs" by 10? 14? Comme ci comme ça. -3.5? -3.5! "Hello, Caesar's Las Vegas? $100 on Georgia to cover."

Nick Saban: "Content" with Win over Michigan

The B1G Conference has had a better post-season than the ACC. That's about all you can say. Today, #13 Alabama came from behind and swamped #14 Michigan 35-16. Do you hear that? "FIRE HARBAUGH!"

On the other, smaller, hand, #18 Minnesota beat #12 Auburn 31-24.

And just like that Arsenal makes a liar out of me. They lead Man United 2-0 in the 74'.
I am done with Ideological Origins. Read it all and annotated it, I mean. Maybe done with it, too. I can't believe it is the final word. I cannot believe how the Final Word has been understood. There has been no criticism of it. Not as this devoted and admiring reader has criticized it. I have long thought myself a student of Professor Bailyn. As do generations of others. I have such a desire to talk to him. But I do not know him. So a few weeks ago I fantasized about interviewing him. Asking him questions. But in this mode I would not be a good listener. I have read the book. Parts of it a few times, once, straight through. I have studied it, written about it here. And so I know how my fantasized interview would have gone. I would have reverted to what I know, the lawyer cross-examining. I thought, "That wouldn't be fair." My fantasy interview morphed into a debate. But he is 97 years old. And so I am left with a familiar feeling, a feeling no less familiar for being insufferably arrogant--that I know the truth of what he wrote and no one else does; I read closely--and the white spaces as well as the black marks, and no one else has; I can "correct the cave," and nobody else has. And I am left with the feeling of heartache, anguish, as much as one can feel reading a dusty, scholarly work past its fiftieth anniversary. So, I am probably done with Ideological Origins.

At the top of the hour, Arsenal-Man United. The game for many years. Wenger vs Ferguson. Now, a contest between the "Bucs," desperate to close ground on fourth place Swine Chelsea and Arsenal, thirteenth, desperate to get any closer to the drop zone. Arsenal is in crisis. They play too tight. They have no belief in themselves. They do not play young and free. Their supporters are so negative, their owner so inept and disinterested. A new, young manager, a former Arsenal captain. They need an injection of enthusiasm. They need a rah-rah "How 'bout them Cowboys!" manager after so many years of the dour, straight-laced Wenger. Is Arteta that? He has youth but is it youth tipped with fire? I have not seen it. United will win today.

FT City 2 Everton 1

The Arch Angel scored dos in seven minutes in the 50's; the "Row Houses" cut it to one later. I still think Everton must sometimes regret not being bought by Sheikh Mansour.
As soon as the British colonists in America had broken the chains of their "slavery," thrown off "tyranny" (of taxation without representation lol), freed their minds of the affliction of paranoia; as soon as they were on their own and had to construct their new governments they abruptly abandoned their pre-Revolutionary arguments and adopted the arguments that the British Crown had used against them. Gone was conspiratorial thinking; Gone was the fear of concentrated power; Gone was the danger of "corruption"; Gone was the primacy of "virtue" in electors and electorate alike:

For in the 1780's...the central task was reversed. Now the goal...was the creation, not the destruction, of national power--the construction of...a central national power that involved...potentially at least, the regulation of vital aspects of everyday life by a government dominant over all...

...the central issue of 1787-88 was...diametrically opposite to the goals of the pre-Revolutionary years.

Not rhetoric, huh Professor Bailyn? No, no! They meant it all! Pshaw. It was the most cynical use of rhetoric. It was all lies. The new country was created on a bedrock of cynical lies.

The new year started with a spectacular morning sunrise, lighting the sky a deep pink and then burning it to sandstone. 63 degrees as I type. To think I live here.
