Holy hell, PSU lost the game to Pitt by going for the win with a pass into the end zone that was intercepted by Pitt instead of a game-tying field goal. They were at the Pitt 31 yard line. That is a long but makeable 48 yard field goal. It was only second down, 9 yards to go for a first down, and there were 2:15 left in the game. PSU had all the momentum, had outscored Pitt 18-7 in the fourth quarter and had driven from their 29 to the Pitt 31 before the errant pass. What was James Franklin thinking?! Run the ball, get closer, take a game-tying field goal and head to overtime...You have an inexperienced quarterback....Why throw the ball down the middle of the field? What, did you think the Pitt defenders were going to be in a prevent in the stands? Of course they were going to be in front of the ball! If you're going to pass, how about a play-action out of the backfield? A nice little sideline down-and-out...Well, no: "Intercepted by the Pitt Panthers. Billy Owens. Billy Owens will score." "Three things can happen when you pass and two of them are bad." You know that James. So...why, James?
