It is like a dream and I never thought of Hemingway's dreams before until I read a couple of days ago that Scott Fitzgerald said something about Hemingway's dreams and the implication was they were dark or bizarre or on that side and it took me aback thinking for the first time what Hemingway's dreams must have been like but he never wrote about his dreams only about having slept well but he had dreams everyone does especially if they sleep well unless this was one of his dreams. Dreams are real and not real and there are those dualities throughout Garden obviously male-female but others like dark-light, dark-light in everything like dark (bad)-light (good) but also in hair, dark hair-light hair, dark skin-light skin. I read that he was influenced in Garden by Proust by Bosch by Picasso's painting of somebody else's something an engraving I think. The Garden of Eden is like a dream transcribed.
