All of Vasya's personal appointments take the bribes, $50M U.S. total. He is handed his mail one morning by his secretary. In one envelope is a USB drive. He plugs it into his computer. It's video of each of his subordinates taking the bribes paid by the oligarchs' bag man. He then receives a phone call from the man.
"You know what to do. You have 30 minutes."
Vasya rises from his desk apparently shaken and looks out the window thinking. Turning away from the window, he takes his cell phone out of his pocket and calls the head of state security mentioned in the previous post.
"Make the arrests," Vasya tells him.
"Well, it's a little soon..."*
"Make the arrests."
(I am utterly convinced he's going to have his ex- arrested (I would)).
He then walks out the door of his inner office and somberly tells his secretary,
"Gather the press. I want to make a statement."
"In how long?"
"One hour." The oligarchs released the video to the press in the half hour the lackey gave Vasya.
-cut to press conference-
"You have all seen the video of my subordinates taking bribes. First, I want to say, the video is authentic. I know because I gave the order for them to accept the money."
-cut to dinner table discussion the night before--
Vasya and his subordinates discuss whether to accept the bribes or not.
"No, take the bribes!, Vasya tells them.
-cut back to press conference-
"I gave the order. Watch the video."
He then plays other video recorded by state security. The foreign minister looks into state security's camera, identifies himself and says
"Today, I am conducting a sting" and laughs devilishly for the camera. Each of the subordinates is seen accepting the suitcase full of cash.
"We now have $50M U.S. to distribute to the people of Ukraine." Vasya tells the assembled, astonished press and then ends the briefing. They all walk out together.
*spoiler: Yuriya is an oligarch plant. He is the ring leader.
