Spoelstra was depressed in his post-Denver presser. I have been depressed since the worst loss of the season. We have two games at Zollner next up, one Friday, one Sunday. Easy dubs. Ho-ho-ho. They're capable of winning both of course; they're also capable of losing any game they play. I will need medication if they lose both to Zollner, but one win or even a sweep won't lighten appreciably my dark mood. I can't believe this is the same ol' same ol' regular season "Heat" that is going to revert to their regular season norm. I'm just stunned. "Heat" fetishists will mock me for this pessimism. As my pencil correspondent wrote, "Correct. But two Finals appearances." There's always that with Greater Miami no matter how close the guillotine comes to falling. By my lights another deep run in the playoffs is virtually inconceivable. To Culture fetishists, I ask you to consider the inconceivable to you, that the "Heat" don't make the playoffs, or if so, that they get bounced by Boston City or Doc's Brew in the first round. Will your sunny optimism be banished for good?
