-Chapter-
Were there a Nobel Prize in cuckoldry and I the Per HallstrΓΆm, I would unhesitatingly recommend Beth to the Swedish Academy for the award. Beth was a master at her craft, which she had honed since at least professional school. She had two children and remains, so far as I know, married to the same man to this day. Her long successful career in cuckoldry ticks all of the boxes:
- Power. Lawyers have power. They get it from,
- Independence. Financial, which grants them,
- Liberty. Which also enhances their power.
- Psychological pleasure in the exercise of power and as aphrodisiac.
- Secret. Her husband never, to my knowledge, learned.
- Danger. Beth was so open in her cuckoldry in graduate school that she became notorious and, I was told, at graduation when her name was called it was met with BOOS.
- Didn't want another husband; only dated her many lovers a short while.
Beth is American, like the fictional Margot Macomber. Like many famous cuckolding wives of the 20th century fin de siècle:
Mrs. Henry White nee Margaret "Daisy" Stuyvesant Rutherford (1883). "Of all the American women in Europe, no one has more fun than Daisy Rutherford".
Madame X (X-rated), Virginie AmΓ©lie Avegno Gautreau, born New Orleans, wife of French banker Pierre Gautreau (1884).
Jeanette "Jennie" Jerome, Lady Randolph Churchill (~1885). "She has more the look of the panther than a woman."
Beth would have been worthy laureate without the cherry topping mentioned at the end of On Cuckoldry III.
The story goes, and was related to the undersigned by the male "perpetrator”:
After hours in a darkened hallway of a darkened office building Beth and Clive were working late. Clive was unmarried but in a long-standing relationship. As they passed each other in the dark hallway Clive suddenly seized Beth by the wrist and took her into an empty auxiliary office. He laid her on the top of a desk, partially undressed her and fucked her. Beth was being vocal, it was not clear in Clive's telling if she was being vocal in protest or in pleasure, but she was being more vocal than Clive thought advisable for safety reasons. "Shhh", Clive told her but Beth's volume did not decrease to the level desired and Clive found his hand efficacious to his purpose and put it over her mouth.
That's a rape. What about that isn't a rape? As related/confessed by the perp all of the statutory elements of the crime of rape are met. I was aghast at Clive's telling. "You forced her?” He chuckled and continued.
In the days and weeks to follow, Clive ventured into Beth's office, closing her door upon entry and tried to renew recent old acquaintance. Beth rebuffed him each time and walked out of her office.
Then came an office party. To my understanding from Clive, this was weeks or months later. Both Beth and Clive attended. Clive saddled up to Beth and made bold to suggest that she stop by his place on her way home to her husband and children. AND BETH ACCEPTED. They coordinated departure times from the party so as not appear to be leaving together and met at Clive’s house where she cuckolded her husband again. After finishing their business, Beth continued on her merry way to her marital abode.
"Have you ever forced a girl before?", me to Clive. He related with a sheepish, delicious (to him) chuckle an anecdote of doing it years before to/with a woman in a car.
I have used the terms "victim" and "perpetrator" in these posts. I have used "victim" in application to the cuckolded husbanded; I have used "perpetrator" to refer to the cuckolding wife, and here as label attached to my good friend Clive. But those labels are now grayed, aren't they? They are not in bolded black. A prosecution for rape requires an accuser. Beth never accused Clive. Was that because "most rapes go unreported" for the "victim's" shame? Undoubtedly, some do, but if Beth had reported the incident as a rape, if she had told anyone, not just a cop, if she had told HR, her boss, a friend, her husband, anyone, even years later, Clive would have been sitting in jail for many years.
But what of Louis CK's dialogue with a woman. "I was hoping you'd just take it."?
Strangle me and tie me up
No viagra nor no chiney brush
Too tight fi go in
Try oil it up
Underneath clean and tidy up
Cover me mouth when you whine it up
Hand pon mi throat and tie me up
Too tight fi go in

Tie Me Up, Shanseea (2017)
Mi bend over, mek yuh stab, stab, stab, stab, stab it upTight hole and mi pum pum fat
Too likkle fi yuh size an' mi grip

Space tight suh mi gih yuh some trouble, trouble (Trouble)
But ah paradise inside
Good Comfort, DJ Frass and Shenseea (2020). DJ Frass is a GUY. So this was a duet between a guy and Shenseea. She is singing to him, "I like to be choked/I will fight you to go in sometimes".
I have no idea if Shenseea is married and I assume that the woman in the Louis CK skit was not. This is a series of posts on cuckoldry and the point here is only whether it is reasonable to use terms such as "victim" and "perpetrator" in thinking about cuckoldry.
What if the woman, in her mind, doesn't want to give (in Erica Jong's fantasy) and doesn't want to be taken...but doesn't mind being taken? What if Beth secretly "wanted it”? From what Clive told me, the first time was forced, that was rape. But then what of Beth's giving him a totally consensual drive-by at a time remote from the office rape? What if Beth's office vocalizing was protest but was done because a "good" wife can't give, she must protest, however sincerely or insincerely, she must be taken. A rape victim does not cuckold her husband with her rapist. That is an absolute defense. What if Beth's vocalization was pleasure, not protest? And finally, what if I told you that Beth was a prosecutor in a D.A.'s office assigned to the Sexual Battery (Rape) unit of that office?
On the word of the perp himself, I believe it was rape in the office, at least it started out forced--Clive grabbed her by the fucking wrist! Beth was a cuckolding wife before and after and was a rape victim in between.
But if the woman doesn't tell somebody that she was raped, was she? If a husband doesn't know he is being cuckolded, is he? I wrestled with my friend's cuckoldry. I didn't want to make him a cuckold. So I didn't mention it to him until he mentioned it to me. Should I have called the cops on Clive? Abso-fucking-lutely not. That's up to Beth.
-Conclusion-
As I started this series with an "abstract", I will end it with a scholarly conclusion.
As used here, and in original meaning, cuckoldry is a practice exclusively of wives, engaged in unbeknownst to the husband, as an exercise of secret power over the husband, of secret liberty from the husband's privilege of sexual exclusivity, and of secretly obtained sexual independence from the husband. The objects of cuckoldry are psychological triumph over the husband and the psycho-sexual gratification that the wife receives from other men, undiscovered by the husband. Cuckoldry is a heterosexual practice. Successful cuckoldry knows no victim; the husband is unknowing. Another husband is not the object. The danger of discovery makes the practice the more thrilling and sexually satisfying to the wife.
