Trev Alberts Leaves Nebraska for Texas DE&I

Shocking move that buries Big Red deeper in uncertainty. Alberts had been Athletic Director at Nebraska only since 2021 and just four months ago signed an extension to stay until 2031. Nebraska has had five Athletic Directors since 2011. He will get a significant raise at DE&I but he hinted that more than money was behind ditching his alma mater:

"From my perspective, there has never been a more consequential time in history for higher education and the evolving landscape of intercollegiate athletics. Leadership matters now more than ever before. My interest in Texas A&M is not only due to its prestigious reputation but also because of President (Mark) Welsh's compelling vision in which, I believe, Athletics can play a small but important role in helping Texas A&M achieve unprecedented success."
