My geiger counter was short-circuited in the radioactive fallout from the debate but is now detecting something, whether accurately or inaccurately. I think that there is a psychology thing going on here.
Since 2016 it has not mattered what a presidential candidate says or how they say it, whether they win debates or not, whether they’re qualified or competent. There’s some weird fantasy projection going on, it’s extra-rational or irrational, a feel. The more disastrous Trump’s scandals were, the more outrageous his statements, the more solid his support. He was right, he could have shot a man on Fifth Avenue.
Americans get a special thrill rooting for underdogs even at the expense of reason. Even in voting for prez.
So you know where I’m going with this. Debate—> little movement in polls—> “Comeback Kid”. All of a sudden a nursing home resident is seen as possessing infamous powers.
Americanoes eat this shit up. It’s some fantasy projection. “Wow. He got away with grabbing them by the pussy!” “Yeah! Joe talks just like me!” Me, I gave up the practice of law because I knew I was slipping. But most trial lawyers don’t know when to quit. And for some people right now, Joe Biden is what Trump was in 2016, the uber underdog, old, dimished, debilitated, and just got clobbered by the bully. And he’s getting back up…
