Pat Narduzzi is now 10-1 after a bye week. They knew what Kyle McCord was going to do before Kyle McCord knew what he was going to do (4:50 below)....Pitt, it was like they had artificial intelligence...(6:55)
That's a super-impressive stat. I don't thing, though, that Duzz is that much of a savant--maybe he is. Having watched highlights, McCord was just AWFUL in this game. I will give Narduzzi this: a lot of the passes were tipped. McCord is He's 6'3", he should have been able to get the ball over defenders. Tipped balls are what you see when you have a shawty under center. Neither is Pitt's defense peopled with a bunch of "Too Tall's'. Maybe Duzz saw that McCord's throws had an unusually low trajectory, I don't know, but the "Panthers" arms were always up in the air when McCord went back to throw.
Whether it was Pitt's scheme or McCord's trajectory, to me, the coach who the focus should be on is Fran Brown. McCord played after three first half pick sixes, after five total interceptions, McCord played every snap. Brown had McCord throw 64 times. He only handed off 29 times. Pitt's run/pass was 22/22. Nicole Auerbach tweeted after int no. 5, "Gotta take him out". Brown didn't. The lay definition of insanity applies precisely to Brown.
