I had so heavily underlined and highlighted and margin-noted my first copy of The Garden of Eden that even had I been able to find it I would have had to order a second copy for a re-read. It is more like a scientific text than novel, in that so many sentences are important that you dare not elide, which is why with this copy I am posting some of those sentences seperately.
