A Family Letter

From: Me
To: Ex-wife-2, Son, Daughter-1, Daughter-2
Sat, Aug 2 at 10:11 PM

I darken your inboxes unbidden, to give my opinion unsolicited, so that you know, although unasked.

In the last couple of weeks I have changed where I stand on Israel-Palestinians.

  • Israel, with U.S. support, is committing genocide. It has created the world's first open air concentration camp in Gaza.
  • Starvation, and killing Gazans who seek food, are the direct consequences of U.S.-supported Israeli policy.
  • Netanyahu's Israel unilaterally broke the cease-fire agreement with Hamas, which it had no intention of extending, for Netanyahu's domestic political purposes so that he could continue the war.
  • Netanyahu is a war criminal who has been and is still committing genocide against the Palestinian people and crimes against humanity.
  • There is no right to exist for nations that is recognized anywhere in international law. Nazi Germany did not have the right to exist, the U.S. does not have the right to exist, Palestine does not have the right to exist, Israel does not have the right to exist. Put another way Israel does not have a right to American taxpayer dollars.
  • Nations exist or are extinguished on their own strength, or want thereof, and on the strength of supportive other nations (or the want). No state is obliged to support another state's existence by right. The U.S. birthed and has supported Israel's existence for 75 years.
  • I do not support a non-existent right of Israel to exist. Erroneously, the implication is that I no longer support Israel's existence. That is incorrect. I do support Israel's existence, even Netanyahu's Israel. That is, I support protecting any Israel against any attempt to exterminate it. But neither this Israel, nor any other state, has the right to my, or my country's, support in order to exist. People change, nations change, Israel changed, my opinion changed. Netanyahu's Israel is not worthy of my support beyond the threat of extinction. The Gaza Palestinians', even in their horrific crimes against humanity of October 7, do not threaten the existence of any Israel.
  • Neither do I do support the right of a Palestinian state to exist. It too is unworthy of my support.
  • Neither do I support the extinction of the Palestinian people, in Gaza or elsewhere. Put positively I support any attempt to prevent the extermination of the Palestinian people, in Gaza or elsewhere.
  • I support ending all American aid of every kind whatsoever to Netanyahu's Israel.
  • Further, I support economic sanctions against Netanyahu's Israel.
  • My country is under an obligation to condemn genocide wherever it is found. It is found in Gaza right now.

I am but one person with no official writ. I have published what I write above numerous times on my blog. That is the extent of my "influence". As just one person in a democracy, if I have a choice (which I am exceedingly unlikely ever to have), I will not vote for a candidate who favors a non-existent right for a Netanyahu Israeli or Palestinian state existence, nor one who sends military or economic aid to Netanyahu's Israel. As just one individual, the policy I support America to pursue in Israel-Palestinian matters is to not participate in genocide, in war crimes, in crimes against humanity, and to noninvolvement in statehood existence matters.
