College Football is Bankrupting College Football

Since joining the B1G in 2014 Rutgers' athletic department debt has soared to a cumulative $516.9 million. Italicized because the B1G is the co-leader in distribution of revenue to its members. It is only going to get worse. College athletes are now being paid millions, Rutgers' budget for players is $20M-$23M--and that is only 14th in the conference--coaches are being given guaranteed contracts worth eight figures. When they are fired they still collect. It's unforgivable and unsustainable for public educational institutions.
