Brick by brick, Tennessee clawed its way to victory in front of a raucous Georgia crowd that watched its team literally run all over Tennessee's defense for most of the afternoon, only to watch all glimmer of hope fade when a bone-rattling sack/fumble/touchdown initiated by star defensive end Derek Barnett gave the Vols a 28-24 lead with 2:56 remaining.
Oh, but it wasn't over then. Oh, no. This is Tennessee football, and it appears to have a football-shaped angel on its shoulder, devilishly peering down on the Vols' opponents.
Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason drove 81 yards in four plays, capping things off with a magnificent 47-yard touchdown strike to Riley Ridley with 10 seconds left to take a 31-28 lead.

Naaaaah.
All Tennessee QB Joshua Dobbs did was hurl a 43-yard prayer (thanks to a celebration penalty and an offside on the kickoff) into the end zone as time expired that Jauan Jennings snatched out of the sky to officially put a fork in this one.

It might leave Vols fans clutching their chests in agony, but at the end of the day, this team is resilient as hell and it just topped top East rivals Florida and Georgia in back-to-back weeks after trailing by a combined 41 points.

In today's marquee game #4 Meeshagan beat #8 WIS 14-7 at MEESH. That game about validates Paul Chryst's team almost as much as a win would have.

The 15th-ranked Nebraska "Fauxpelini's" came roaring back from a 13-10 half-time deficit to wax Illinoise 31-16.

#23 Florida beat the Vanderbilt "Ex-James Franklin's" in a dreary sounding 13-6 game.
Notre Dame clamped down on defense in the second half and beat a bad Syracuse team 50-33.
Texas. All my ex's live in Texas and Charlie Strong is heading toward an exit after a 49-31 loss to Oklahoma State. Texas was 22nd ranked. The Texas defense has given up in its first four games, 47, 7, 50, and 49 points. Charlie, Charlie, Charlie, the eyes of Texas are upon you.
You're 13th, Baylor? Where, in Texas? The 13th best team in the nation doesn't need 17 fourth quarter points to nudge woeful Iowa State. The "Bears" prevailed 45-42 and if there is any justice will FALL in the polls after this embarrassing win.
Miami ("of Florida") beat Georgia Tech 35-21. The "Hurricanes" were 14th-ranked coming into the game. Georgia's decision to fire head coach Mark Richt is a decision they will regret but once, and that is continuously.
Continuing on regretful decisions, the Big 10 accepted Rutgers and Maryland into their conference when they already had one disgraceful "school" in PSU. Rutgers is a train wreck in every regard and got crushed today in Columbus by Ohio State 58-0. The scoreline flatters Rutgers, it was not that "close." The Big 10 would be scarlet with embarrassment if they had any dignity which they don't so they're not.
