Andrew Ross

The individual named in the title and pictured above was the subject of a fawning portrait painted with words on the canvass of this here blog on January 5, 2011. Andrew is now the subject of more word flattery of putative rehabilitation in the January 31 issue of Dissent magazine ("Hey, have you heard Dissent and Commentary merged?  It will now be called Dysentery." -Woody Allen) that can be found here: http://dissentmagazine.org/online.php?id=440.

Maoists are attempting to rehabilitate themselves before they pass into the Great Wherever. At the end of 2008 it was Elizabeth J. Perry in her fairwell address to the Association of Asian Scholars (see post here Dec. 29, 2008), and "Rediscovering China's Cultural Revolution," the NYU Maoist convention at which Andrew played to swooning girl-Maoists. Then in March, 2010 it was Perry, et al with "Red Legacy in China" at Harvard (see daily posts from March 8-April 3, 2010). And of course Song Yaowu has been trying to disentangle herself from her past starting with Morning Sun and continuing with "Remembrance" (November 28, 2010).  Yaowu is on break from the battle while she cares for her seriously ill husband. But she'll be baaack. And I'll be heeeere.
