The last presidential candidate whose bumper sticker graced my sexy 1995 Honda was Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut. That was back in...ought-four? I think so. Back then Senator Lieberman was one of the "Three Amigos" along with Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain. The three watched Borat together, Lieberman drove his political party, the Democratic, nuts (He was kicked out.) and McCain, whose nickname is Maverick, drove his party, the Republican, nuts. So that's two things that made The Three Amigos irresistible. And as throw-in, they were nearly always right on foreign policy. Now we have this. Commenting today on the end of the government shutdown fiasco for which the American people blame the Republicans overwhelmingly, Graham said:
"Our numbers have gone down, Obamacare's somehow mysteriously have gone up. And other than that, this has been great."
We have humor, ladies and gentlemen, we have humor. Gallows humor at that. Here's to the Two Amigos.
