How the fuck do they know that?

The pragmatists, Dewey, James, Rorty, say convincingly that we cannot get outside of our consciousness to an independent reality. There is no meta-reality, no color "as it really is," no morality higher than our social construction, no "mirror of nature." Falcons see things at greater distance, bats echolocate, bloodhounds smell more acutely, lions chase down, kill and eat baby antelopes.

But that is not what Galileo and David Eagleman say. They say there is a reality outside of our consciousness and that it is colorless, tasteless and all the rest. How can they know that?
