Chris Petersen abruptly resigned as coach of the Washington "Huskies" today.

When Micky Arison took over ownership of the Miami "Heat" from his father Ted in 1995, Micky inherited Dave Wohl as vice president of basketball operations, the top basketball man in the organization. Fine man, Wohl, but Micky was a neophyte and more importantly he knew he didn't know what he was doing. He was desperate to hire the best available man for the position and Pat Riley had just faxed in his resignations to the New York "Knicks." Arison pounced. Riley's issue in NYC was control; Arison gave Pat complete control over basketball, elevating him to president over Wohl, who, neutered, eventually left, and Arison gave Riley 10% of the team. Riley immediately stamped Miami with his "Culture" and the results since are too commonly known to repeat.

As Dave Wohl was a fine basketball mind Pat Narduzzi "is becoming a pretty good coach," Athletic Director Heather Lyke's damnation by faint praise at the end of the 2018 season and before this, the most disappointing season in Narduzzi's tenure. Chris Petersens and Pat Rileys just don't come available very often and it says here Heather Lyke should stryke as Micky Arison did so many years ago. This is Petersen's record as head coach:

Boise State:
13-0
10-3
12-1
14-0
12-1
12-1
11-2
8-4

Washington:
8-6
7-6
12-2
10-3
10-4
7-5

146-38, an average of ten wins a season over fourteen years.

Heather Lyke is tough. She is rational. Is she bold? Opportunistic? I will think no less of her if she does not make this try but I will think Pitt has the best Athletic Director in the country if she does. This is Heather Lyke's tyme. Much as I think of her, I do not think she will seize this tyme but I hope that she does.
