AP Rankings Out!

Pitt is 23rd

Clemson didn't make it. Five newbies or redoobies made the cut, led by Auburn (19th) and Baylor (20th). Following the "Panthers" was UTSA, the first time in their short history (2012) they have been ranked. So it's official: the Texas "Longhorns" are the second-best team in the Lone Star State.

A school not at all on my radar, Purdue, was voted 25th. Purdue had not been on AP's radar either since 2007.

Five in, five out, in the last category, in descending order, are Texas (amazing), Florida, BYU, Arizona State, Arkansas. With FU gone this is the first week since 2011 that no school from the state of Florida is ranked :o

Georgia once again was a unanimous number one. Cincinnati, Oklahoma, Alabama and Ohio State all moved up one spot with Iowa's fall from second to 11th lol. Michigan somehow managed to move up two places to sixth without playing a game. PSU (unchanged), Okie State (up 4), East Lansing Spartak (+1), and Nike (-1 despite winning) round out the top ten. "Sparty" is 7-0. Two other 7-0 teams, Georgia and OU, rank ahead of them; three 6-0 teams are ranked higher as well as three one-loss teams. Which is weird to me.
