The Athletic's Shams Charania reports that Udoka is accused of engaging in "an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff" in violation of the franchise's code of conduct.

Okay, Shams is as good as they come and that settles it:

The Boston Celtics Have Lost Their Fucking Minds

I want to know more about this because now the specter of racism enters the void that reason occupied. What is the race of the woman? Is she white, Black, latin, or...What is the race of Ime Udoka? I don't even know for sure. I mean I ASSUME he's black, his skin tone is black-ish...Or is the woman whatever Udoka is? How does this make sense after Adam Silver suspended Robert Sarver for a year and fined him $10M for a history of saying racist and misogynist things? Does a CONSENSUAL sexual relationship with a woman on staff warrant the identical length suspension? Is Ime married? Is the woman married? I'm actually thinking like that. Is this the Scarlet Letter punishment? The NBA is the most sex-happy league out there. The "Celtics" wouldn't suspend their SUPERB coach over an extra-marital affair, would they?

I had the thought after I first posted at 11:52 that the punishment was so over the top that maybe it was a sexual relationship with a MALE staffer. I found myself thinking "Is he gay?" I ASSUMED he was straight like I ASSUME he identifies as Black but I don't know. I found myself wondering if his sexual orientation what got the "Celtics" Irish up? And if it was sexual orientation that wouldn't have made this less egregious, it is just a recognition of the reality of disparate treatment that gay men, like Black men, are subject to. I am honestly not sure what Ime Udoka is other than a superb basketball coach.  So now that it's confirmed that he had CONSENSUAL straight sex I'm back to race. It can't be that "This is a violation of section 2.1(d) of our employee code of conduct and this is the mandated penalty."When reasonable explanations fail the mind turns to the unreasonable. I need to know much more.

11:52 a.m.

Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka is likely facing a suspension for the entire 2022-23 season for his role in an intimate relationship with a female member of the franchise's staff, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

The relationship is considered a violation of the organization's guidelines...

There are only two reasonable understandings of this: 1) the Celtics org has gone mad or 2) there was force used in the "intimate relationship".
