Washington and Phoenix have finalized the Bradley Beal trade, landing the Wizards six second-round draft picks and four first-round pick swaps, sources tell ESPN. Suns are sending seconds in 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2030. Pick swaps in 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030.

I’ve never heard of a draft haul like that, albeit 2nds. I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but the new CBA that is effective in 2024 is extremely punitive to over-the-cap teams. It’s not as draconian as England’s soccer penalties for violators of Financial Fair Play but has elements of it. For teams over the cap labor (player) movement to the affected team is halted. THEY CANNOT SIGN guys to even complete their rosters. Forfeiture of draft picks is also a consequence. Miami “Heat” followers know that Pat Riley traditionally has disdained the draft. No more, I'll tell ya! I listened to Riles' end of year yesterday (Riley was giddy in general, something I've never seen him be) and there he was enraptured by the draft, extolling the entry-level players as "more ready" than they have ever been...Not totally convinced by that explanation but the Association is. They want the draft to be THE vehicle for entry (because of the minimum salaries) and not reentry via free agency. Adam wants the Super Team to be of a bygone era (don't know why the NBAPA ever went along with all this). The "Heat" pick 18th tonight at 8 pm.
