Russians: This is the reason we make fun of you.

A claim of unity immediately after an armed rebellion--aimed at him--that Russian regular troops did next to nothing to stop--Think of that! That lede is typical of Russian mental derangement and double-speak over the last 100 years.

A Visibly Angry Putin Stresses Failure of Wagner Revolt (NYT)

Well, this was AP’s read on his mood: “Speaking in a stern tone and looking tired in a five-minute TV address near midnight…”

NYT, cont.

Throughout the day, the Kremlin had sought to project an air of normalcy, unity and stability, despite Mr. Putin’s absence from public view

This is so Russian. Uncle Joe was…surprised when ally-enemy Uncle Alf whatcha call invaded glorious Soviet Union. As his descendant Poot-Poot would do, UJ fled to a dacha, afraid of being arrested. Molotov and other apparatchiks had to go fetch him and drag him back to the Kremlin.

“They wanted Russians to fight each other,” said Mr. Putin, Russia’s president. “They rubbed their hands, dreaming of taking revenge for their failures at the front and during the so-called counteroffensive.”

That’s the faux anger of the incompetent fool who fled to escape deposition.

The world watched in shock and fear as instability seemed to shake the nation with the world’s largest nuclear arsenal. Mr. Putin on Saturday vowed the harshest punishment for those who had “consciously chosen the path of betrayal.”

Shock, absolutely; Fear, not in the part of the world that I inhabit! Do those nukes work any better than the vaunted Russian Army has fought for 16 months? Nobody is afraid of Russia anymore.

When he finally emerged, the Russian leader skirted a host of unanswered questions left by the revolt. Instead, at the core of his five-minute speech on Monday was his insistence that he leads a nation and a government that present a united front to all threats.

πŸ—£️Mr. President, your Chef on line one.

Prighozhin…said in an 11-minute, stream-of-consciousness voice memo posted on the messaging app Telegram on Monday that the government was trying to destroy Wagner, which he said would effectively have to disband by this coming Saturday.

It was not clear where Mr. Prigozhin was…

Don’t know where he is either oh God. Russians are not normal people.

…The Kremlin statement over the weekend that he would be allowed to go into exile was contradicted on Monday by reports in multiple state-controlled news outlets that he still faced investigation and a very real possibility of prosecution.
