In the opening drive of the game Missouri (9) went on 4th and 2 from the DEI 40. They had only moved the ball 35 yards. DEI's defense was fresh. Arguably the field position was a tweener, too long for a FG, too short for a punt. But not really they could have punted the ball. Mizzou just wanted to assert their will. It failed.
