So the Miami Heat made a change after a 0-4 start to the season

They brought back pick and rolls

[Wow! Spo must have had to go to the library and dust off a few books and and watch some ancient, grainy film to find the ol' pick and roll!]

So let’s get into the fun stuff of how this change led to the Heat’s first win Quick thread:

First of all, more pick and rolls means Bam Adebayo is back in his comfort spots Getting to the middle of the floor with a running start Constant good touch at that dotted line But notice anything else? Yeah, Pelle is diming

[Sounds like a good spot for Bam those comfort spots!{

Same goes for Davion Mitchell who was really high volume in PnR All attention is on Bam and Giannis as rollers So Davion can pass fake and find open driving lanes for layups

[Yeah, brilliant by Spo: all eyes on the Twin Towers! Who'd a thunk something so unexpected!]

Here’s the other layer to these Adebayo pick and rolls Giannis lived in the dunker spot tonight It means no more of these two running into each other Plus, Giannis dominated the glass and kept carving out box outs to impact off these type of misses

[Me like Giannis in dunker spot. At 6' 11" that seems a genius spot for him.{

But now let’s get into the next layer of business: Giannis the roller One of the more exciting elements, and the Heat continue to spam it late with Pelle as the handler We see it lead to a quality Giannis middy, head of steam and-1 finish, and the best one: Look at the space Show more

Do you know what these Pelle-Giannis spammed actions lead to? All eyes on those two guys Watch how Hardaway can now slide into space after his defender gets distracted

This is what a pick and roll, screening, normal offense can create for a struggling offense

[Amazing what normal offense, ancient concepts like pick-and-rolls, a Two Big scheme AND playing to your roster's strengths can do! Death to positionless! Take off the Wheel! NORMAL OFFENSE! NORMAL OFFENSE!

Last action that caught my eye tonight I want to show Double screen from Giannis and Portis for THJ out of the timeout Hardaway curls to basket with big man defender having to stay with Portis But look what it leads to later Seems like same play, but instead Portis is the one Show more

Pick and rolls, handoffs, off-ball screening, pin-downs These are the things that create overreactions and defense breakdowns You know who needs those things? A team trying to work around Giannis and Bam Big fan of what we saw process wise tonight

😂👏👏
