Ladies and genitals, there is this...thing in America called the "Tea Party;" it is the Christian Phalangist faction of the Republican Party. They have elected a bunch of people to the national legislature and have a lot of influence within the GOP (Grand Old Phalanx). Tea Partiers liken themselves to the American revolutionists. Today there was some convention, I think in Washington, D.C., dominated by the Tea Party. One of their own, "Ted Cruz," spoke. In the reports on this interesting public occurrence what struck this son of the American Revolution were the cries of "Tyranny!" whenever America's national healthcare system, popularly known as "Obamacare," was mentioned by Senator Cruz.
There may be something to the identification of the modern Tea Party and the Boston Tea Party.
"Taxation without representation is tyranny" was a winning slogan among those like my colonial ancestor. The "something" that these two groups of Tea Partiers have in common is brain damage.
Taxation without representation was not tyranny, not even close actually, that is an insult to real tyrants everywhere. George III was not a tyrant and the revolutionaries like my great-great-great-whatever had bones in their brains. But they won. On that foundation of sand the original Tea Partiers won independence from Great Britain, erected a mighty edifice of democracy and bequeathed us the febrile thought of "Ted" "Cruz" to whom Obamacare is tyranny. Not even close actually, but the modern Tea Party has historical American precedent going for them and the ghosts of George Otis and Samuel Harris walking by their side.
