It has started.
A mosque in California was spray-painted; a professor at Wheaton College was suspended for wearing the hajib in solidarity with American Muslims; classes were canceled today in a Virginia school district after a teacher assigned as a lesson in calligraphy an Arabic sentence. Translated, the sentence read, "There is no God but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah," but the kids weren't provided the translation. It was a CALIGRAPHY assignment. Angry phone calls from parents, classes canceled.
My goodness gracious. This is a very discouraging time. Very dangerous, too.
