The Republicans are clueless. The individual factions and the Party Center have not missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity this election cycle. Let Trump hang himself: WRONG. Individual candidates conventional attacks on Trump will work: WRONG. Let he "marketplace of ideas" work its magic: WRONG. It got to the point where Nate Silver, who was smug and dismissive of Trump, convinced that the Center would rise and smote him, concluded that there was no Center to rise much less smote.  WRONG! There IS a Center with some power and this week they rose and smote...Ted Cruz. I, and some astute Republicans like Charles Krauthammer, think this week's wounds inflicted by Trump and Dole and Barnstad and Palin are looking fatal. We'll see if the Revolt of the Intellectuals that starts tomorrow can save the bleeding and dying Canadian. Take this in: they knifed a Republican senator for an erstwhile Democrat, and Independent. They think, each of them and all of them, that they are going to beat Hillary Clinton. Just like they thought Romney was going to defeat Obama. Romney had no chance, NO CHANCE! Ask Nate Silver. And yet so clueless, so out of touch, so stupid are the Republicans, individually and collectively, that Karl Rove and Romney himself thought election night that they were going to win.

If a bird bad their brains it would fly backwards.

They are a self-parody. Take Jeb Bush, Please! Jeb! has this image as a low energy wonk with all the excitement of artificial insemination, right? So I just got on his twitter account. Maybe he had changed, maybe he had learned something from the past several months. This is Jeb's twitter feed tonight:

47 pages of policy, that’s only half a loaf of bread. If you want the full loaf → http://jeb.cm/1Ktr0gu https://amp.twimg.com/v/1f3f2bc4
No, Jeb, Republican voters don't want your full loaf, they don't want your half loaf, they don't want you to loaf. Is anything getting through to you, Jeb? No? Alright, then.

Good night.
