Kevin Sumlin has been fired by Texas A&M...
Dan Mullin (Mississippi State) is going to be Florida's new coach according to multiple reports. How do you go from Chip Kelly (offensive) to Mullin (defensive). AD's should not do that generally. A football "program" has an identity (Nebraska: run; BYU: pass; Miami: pro-style), Florida's is the "fun-and-gun" of Steve Spurrier. They hired Jim McElwain to put the octane back in their offense and he failed. UF's offense is offensive so not only is it wise generally for AD's to stick to the program but at Florida right now it is the offense specifically that needs attention. It thus made perfect sense for them to go after Kelly. Having failed, they now bring in Mullin. He is the wrong hire both the generally and specifically. FireDanMullin.com! Ho ho ho.
Tennessee is going to hire Greg Schiano. Has hired Schiano according to Wikipedia.
UT football does not have an identity as set as those mentioned above. What they seemed to lack this year was discipline. Schiano will take care of that, hooo doggie. Schiano has been out of head coaching totally since 2013 and as I recall at least one reason for that is that he is too much a disciplinarian, he's a control freak. He was prominently mentioned as a candidate at Pitt in the hire that went to Pat Narduzzi, and Pitt got squeamish and turned away. Schiano did a phenomenal job at Rutgers.
I DO remember McQueary saying that. Maybe THAT is why Pitt backed away. I don't think the "reaction" from Tennessee fans is based on that, however. I don't think they know, you can't read much when you're drunk, and I don't think they would care if somebody told them. It's gotta be something else.

You could say Tennessee "Volunteer" football's identity is...its fans. Right?
Greg Schiano is currently concerned with the climate of the Tennessee fan base and the reaction towards reports of his contract being finalized at Tennessee. The deal may not get finalized.
Right.
And so Wikipedia is wrong, apparently. Which is weird.
I don't know what "the climate of the Tennessee fan base" could mean unless it's "three sheets to the wind."
Then there is this:
Talking to someone at Ohio State, Greg Schiano was hired before testimony from former Penn State assistant Mike McQueary that was unsealed saying that Greg Schiano knew of Sandusky's abuse. Says that Tennessee should do proper vetting.
