Scholarly Tackle Football

The Game. Yale beat Harvard yesterday to win its first Ivy League title since 1980. The "Elis" finished 9-1 and beat the "Johns" in consecutive years for the first time...I don't know, I don't follow this closely, I just know they don't do it often. Don't beat Harvard period very often. H had won 14 of the past 16. 51,000 at the Yale Bowl.

Two weeks ago Iowa laid a double nickle on Ohio State. Yesterday, in the same stadium, Purdue, who haven't done anything right since admitting Cindy Crawford, beat the "Sockeyes" 24-15.

LSU(20) beat Liverpool "Volunteers" 30-10.

That's it.

(7:18 pm Nov 18)
Ooh. Okie State(13) lost to 5-5 Kansas State in Still Pickens. Still t'ain't gonna be happy with Mike "I'm a man!" (With a Mullet) Gundy. K-State led 42-13 in the third. Ooh.

Florida "improved" to 4-6 by beating the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Cannot believe FU is 4-6, was 3-6, improved to 4-6.

It's football time in Tennessee! #20 LSU is on Rocky Top tonight and the Harvard of Tennessee and the Harvard of the Bayou are scoreless 'bout half-way through the first quarter.

Oh dear JEE-ZUS! Pitt had the ball 4th down at their own 25 trailing 20-14 with 1:30 left in the game at Virginia Tech and completed a 75 yard pass for a touchdown! to tie it at 20! according to ESPN...Then it was ruled to be a 74 yard pass to the Va Tech 1. Still first and goal at the "Gobbler" one yard line! Then second and goal, then third, then fourth and goal with three seconds left...And the Pitt running back ran for a loss of three yards. Game over. Virginia Tech 20 Pitt 14 just shoot me.

(3:33 p.m.)
Miami's gonna beat the "Hoos." The '"Canes" lead 37-28 with 1:56 left in the game. Amazing second season for head coach Mark Richt.

The "Horns" are gonna beat the "'Eers." Texas leads 28-14 with a minute and some left. Biggest win of head coach Tom Herman's first year.

Same with #5 Wisconsin who lead #24 Meeshagan 21-10, 3:16 left.

(2:27 p.m.)

Miami has tied it at 28, 8:30 3Q.

Texas now leads the 'Eers 21-7.

Minnesota, who laid 54 on Nebraska last week are getting shut out by #23 Northwestern, 39-0!

(2:14 p.m.)
#3 Miami is in trouble. They trail at home to 6-4 Virginia 28-14 (!) with 11 minutes left in the third quarter.

5-5 Texas leads 7-3 West Virginia 14-7, five minutes left in third, in Couch Burn.
