Man, the playoff committee has a bear of a job right now. It will all sort itself out after the conference championships so I don't think they're sweating their decision Monday or whenever it is, but look at this. Alabama was their number one; Alabama lost to their number 6. No. 2 Miami lost, "got killed" by a 4-7 team, in a game that they clearly were not ready to play. Clemson is No. 3. Assuming they win tonight, Clemson has an uglier loss on their ledger than Miami has. Clemson lost at Syracuse. Syracuse is 4-8. Know the last game Syracuse won? Against Clemson. They lost five straight to end the season! That's your new numero uno, the Clemson "Tigers" (if they handle the "Cocks").

The ACC champion, Clemson or Miami is going to have a major blemish on their face. How far do you drop 'Bama? No disgrace in losing to Auburn on the Plains. You gonna drop 'Bama behind Clemson? That ain't right. Behind Miami? Ditto.

Either Oklahoma or Wisconsin will become the new number two. I cannot believe that an undefeated Big Ten team is behind a Big XII team that lost to Iowa State. That ain't right either. I'm hoping the committee bumps the "Boogers" ahead of OU but the "Sooners" killed (7-5) West Virginia today. What would be the committee's rationale for doing that? "Jew see Wisc against Minnesota?" There hasn't been a win over Minnesota that's been considered impressive since 1938.

So anyway, that's your new top 3, Clemson (if...), OU and Wisconsin in some order. Who's number 4? Gotta be Auburn. So 'Bama's out? Auburn has lost twice. Does the committee have an epiphany, "Jew know Clemson clemsoned against Syracuse?!", and drop 'Bama all of one spot to number 2? Keeping Clemson third and, "Jew know OU lost to Cyclops?!", elevating Wisconsin over the "Sooners"? So OU drops out of the four team playoff after beating WVU 59-31? I can't see that. The commissioner of the Big XII'd turn into a mass murderer if the committee did that. So unbeaten Wisconsin, the Big Ten's Wisconsin, not frigging C-USA's Wisconsin, the BIG TEN'S Wisconsin, is on the outside looking in. Again? I think so.

Your new four playoff teams (with all previous "if's")

1. Clemson...

No, I can't do it. I'm not even going to predict what the committee will do, it just sticks in my craw that Clemson is going to be number one having lost to Syracuse, Oklahoma's going to be one of the four teams having lost to Iowa State, Miami might be in the top four having disgraced the game in Pittsburgh, Auburn is probably going to be one of the four with two losses, all at the expense of 11-1 Alabama and 11-0 Wisconsin.

"It's only one week! Things will sort themselves out!"

(7:44 pm)
Um. Vanderbilt won the 4-and-7 Classic handily. 42-24. I bet that is one of Vandy's most lopsided wins ever on Rocky Top.
#LolVols

Now, who the hail are they gonna get to coach that team? Kelly said no, Frost said no, Lane Kiffin (9-3 at FAU) left after one season. I don't know. I don't think they know. They want, for reasons having something to do with their imbibing of intoxicating beverages to excess, Jon Gruden. I have no idea how that love of buggery fest started. Gruden last coached in 2008--in the NFL. He has never been a college head coach. He has no...Technically, incorrect. He has one tie to UT, he was a graduate assistant coach for one year, 1985-6. ??? Hell, Gruden spent as much time at Pitt, and not as a gofer, he was wide receivers coach in 1991. Vols...what is the root of your GrudenFest?? Oh my God, lol Vols.

(7:24 pm)
I didn't realize South Carolina, #3 Clemson's opponent tonight, is ranked, (24th) and that the game is in Columbia...Trying to guess what the line is...Um, 7. Une momento por favor whilst I check...Wow! 13 1/2. USC's an 8-3 team! They're ranked and the game's in their house. Man, that's a lot of pernts. I think Miami was a 12 point pick over Pitt. I bet Clemson don't take no "mulligan" tonight against their biggest rival. Miami, you have always been a disgrace to college football. You continue to be.

(7:00 pm)
And that is that. Auburn knocks off unbeaten and #1 Alabama. They will move ahead of Miami. Wisconsin will move ahead of Miami so Miami,

                      Fuck
v

Auburn is going to beat Alabama. They just held the "Crimson Roy Moores" on 4th down and took over at their own 46. 2:38 left and Auburn leads 26-14 at Hairy Jordan Stadium. War Eagle!

Wisconsin did not take a "mulligan." The "Boogers" shut out Minnesota (5-6 going into the game) 31-0 in Minnesota, nearly an identical circumstance to Miami's.

We had the 4-and-6'ers Bowl earlier. I didn't know we also had a 4-and-7's Classic today. Guess who? Rocky Top you'll always be
Home Sweet Home to me

Oh my God, #LolVols. Vanderbilt is on top of the Rocky Toppers 28-17. The fourth quarter has just begun.

(3:47 pm)
Ohio State(9) shook off that horrendous 14-0 start and whipped Michigan (8-4) in the Big House, 31-20. Disappointing year for UM savior Jim Harbaugh, no?

(3:39 pm)
FU got a garbage time touchdown to make them feel better about themselves. FSU wins the 4-and-6'ers Bowl  38-22.

(3:22)
Georgia did their part to help the selection committee punish Miami. The "Dawgs"(7) beat the snot out of the "Rambling Yellow Jackets," 38-7.

(11:06 pm Nov. 24)
I don't want to drag this toy department post into a third day, having embarrassed myself with the initial post yesterday, so I have a few more comments on the Miami-Pitt came which I will surely finish before I turn into a pumpkin.

Most importantly, I will start with Bennie Blades twitter post. Pitt "wanted it more." Why would that have been? Well, I read another article that this was Miami's "mulligan," that was the word that was used. It was, not meaningless, not by a long stretch, but Miami had already clinched their spot in the conference championship game and the thinking on Pitt "wanting it more" today is that the 'Canes thought "If we lose to Pitt, we can make up for it by beating Clemson in the conference title game and still be one of the four teams who will play for the national championship in the playoffs."

If that was any part of the reason for Miami's performance today then that is a very ominous development that the Playoff Committee.is going to have to address. The four-team playoff was just about universally applauded. There were a few dissenting voices who questioned whether the four-team playoff would devalue the regular season. So, if Miami took its "mulligan" today against Pitt, that is exactly what they did, they devalued a regular season, and a conference game. The arrogance of that, the risk-taking stupidity, and that this might establish precedent would gall me were I on the committee to devalue Miami beyond the point of no return even if they blast Clemson in the ACC title game. How far could I, in good conscience, punish UM? Wisconsin jumping them is a no-brainer. The "Boogers" are unbeaten. They have one "regular season" (I don't like "regular season" and "post season" in college football! Don't turn this into the fucking NBA or NHL!) game left tomorrow at 5-6 Minnesota and are 17.5 point favorites and then the Big Ten (12 teams) championship game against Ohio State. They'll beat Minnesota but Ohio State? Urban Meyer WINS big ball games. But first things first. UM entered the Pitt game #2. Dropping them beneath Clemson, Oklahoma and Wisconsin into the fifth, non-playoff spot is easy as pie. But we have to get them lower so that even a win over Clemson doesn't make the Pitt game a "mulligan." That will encourage future mulligans and compromise the integrity of the playoff regimen. If Auburn beats #1 /Bama and it's close fine, Auburn, even with two losses jumps UM on my non-existent ballot and does not drop 'Bama out of the top four. An Alabama win though, and no, I could not in good conscience elevate a three loss team that sits four spots beneath Miami over the one-loss 'Canes. Georgia, #7, got killed two weeks ago, but at #10 Auburn, their only loss of the year. Georgia you fucking silver britches poofs, do NOT lose at 5-5 Georgia Tech tomorrow, K? If you win, you're in my non-existent top four. And Miami is down to sixth. The other schools after Georgia, currently #7, all have two losses, one has three, until we get to #15, UCF. The "Knights" are unbeaten. The commissioner of their conference, the American Athletic, was articulately bitching about the lack of love UCF has gotten. Fuck it, I would jump UCF nine places to sixth and put UM at seventh. If they beat fucking Clemson they probably still would end up back in the top four. Clemson? BEAT THEM! If Clemson did beat them, UM is headed to the Poulan Weedeater Independence Capital One Coca Cola Carabao Bowl...in the Bahamas or some like bite bowl like that.

As one of the twitter twits wrote, arrogant UM, if they really did just mail it in today, really were "KILLED" by Pitt who really were, and still are, a sub-.500 team. Pitt had more yards, and with more turnovers, had much the better time of possession, more first downs, every statistical category was in the "Panthers" favor, and the outcome was not as close as the 24-14 margin might suggest, if it does suggest that. 24-14 is a pretty comfortable margin but Pitt led 24-7 with 2:54 left in the game! This was the third? the fourth? "blah" game UM played this year, their previous "blahs" they pulled out of their asses. This one they didn't pull out of their asses. There were too many "Panther" fists already in there to pull anything out. You subconsciously decide "We so bad we can afford to lose to a "cupcake" team like Pitt" after you've won other games on miracles? The College Football Playoff Committee should have a special circle in rankings hell reserved for such a team.

I don't know what time it is, but surely it is not midnight yet and I'm done...Unless A&M or Nebraska make coaching changes. Good night.

(10:09 pm)
Central Florida are the champs of all of Florida. The "Knights" beat South Florida today 49-42 in what sounds like a humdinger of a game. Congratulations to UCF.

Missouri (7-5) beat Arkansas (4-8) in Fayetteville and coach Bret Bielema was fired afterwards. Athletic Director Jeff Long, a prominent member of the A.D. profession nationally was fired a week
ago or so. Long came from...Pitt.

I cannot remember another year when so many head coaches at top-flight football factories were fired so soon. UCLA, Florida, and Tennessee all fired their head coaches before the season was over! The body was still kickin' when Arkansas fired Bielema today; I haven't checked but Nebraska may have fired Mike Riley by now. Their last game of the season was today, also. Similar, maybe not quite so immediate, a move is widely expected by Texas A&M with Kevin Sumlin.

Arkansas, UCLA, Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Nebraska. How many national championships among that six-pack? ...Une momento por favor...12 1/2. (UCLA and Ohio State shared the 1954 title.). Absolute football factories those schools and all looking for new department chairs in the same year.

Iowa beat Nebraska 56-14 in Lincoln. Good grief. Riley is history as was the AD who hired him, Shawn Eichorst a few weeks ago. Eichorst came from...Miami.

It's not accurate to say that #TheU is back when we lose to a team that isn't better. #Pitt wanted it more and that's a problem. We're headed in the right direction, but today's disappointing performance was exposing. Learn from the bitter taste #Canes and be weak never again.

History repeats itself as Pitt shocks unbeaten, No. 2 Miami

PITTSBURGH -- For the second straight season, Pitt has knocked off the No. 2 ranked team in the country, this time beating Miami 24-14. The Panthers beat Clemson last season 43-42 in week 10,
and now stopped Miami’s 15-game win streak, and potentially its hopes at making the College Football Playoff.

(3:51 pm)
Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi called the upset in an interview when he returned to the field for the start of the second half. "It happened in West Virginia where we knocked off #2. It happened in South Carolina [Clemson last year] and it's happening in Pittsburgh today."

Hail to Pitt! Hail to Pitt! every loyal son,
Hail to Pitt! Hail to Pitt! 'til the victory is won,
The Gold and Blue shall wave forever
On high, through fair and stormy weather,
We'll sing her praises far and wide
Until the end of time;
Hoop-hurray! Hoop-hurray for dear old Uni,
Give her a grand old Allegheny-genac-genac-genac
We'll wave and cheer for many a year
And sing her songs out loud and clear,
For our University.

Dear God it's 17-7 Pitt. 13 minutes left in the game. If I start following it I'm going to jinx them.

(1:53 pm)
"13-9"

Pitt is beating #2 Miami 10-7 at the half. As if.

It was ten years ago that the Beloveds played a second-ranked team in the country in the final game of the season. That was the inexplicable 13-9 win over archrival West Virginia in Couch Burn. Pitt was a 28 1/2 point underdog. In a year of surprises that game was voted game of the year by ESPN.

I did not see that game live, of course. I don't know if I followed it live. I know I wrote about it. I did watch highlights repeatedly and it was eery. I have never seen a game like it. It was as if West Virginia, the team and the whole stadium, were under some spell. WVU has rabid fans and they HATE Pitt, you have no idea. As I recall the game seemed to turn on a missed field goal by WVU in the first half. That was when a hush came over the stadium. It was a hush of dread, like they had seen it all before, like they were jinxed. And they weren't! They weren't Manchester City in the day. That WVU team had swagger. It was as if they had gotten a glimpse of the goat-foot god in that goat-footed missed field goal. WVU's players seemed to be sleep-walking. Those guys were FAST, Steve Slaton and Pat White...Ah! White, the quarterback, did get injured in the first half as I recall and did not return. Slaton and White, White and Slaton, those guys went through you like Exlax. So as I recall White got hurt but Slaton then and the rest of the 'Eers' just were not moving fast. Like they were sleep-walking or in a dream when you you are trying to run but can't. "A nightmare. It was like a nightmare," was how WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez put it in the weird press conference afterwards, weird because the sound of the hooting Pitt players in their locker room too close by was so loud you could not ignore it.
I see it but I still don't believe it.

Weirdest game I know of.

(8:17 am, November 24)
Yesterday's post below is today's post now 👍
...
Oh my fucking God, those games are played tomorrow. Excuse me for living I fell out of a hearse.

(12:57 pm, November 23)
The championship game of the state of Florida will be played today at 3:30. 10-0 #15 Central Florida plays unranked but 9-1 South Florida. Can you believe that? That is pretty doggone cool. Both schools have very well-regarded coaches, Scott Frost at UCF and Charlie Strong at USF, and there just is a seemingly endless supply of football players (fast ones, too) in the state. Hell, Lane Kiffin has Florida Atlantic at 8-3. Mind-blowingly, there is another all-Florida game at noon between two 4-6 also-rans, Florida and Florida State. Unbelievable. Major props to the "Knights" and "Bulls."
