The artwork and their patterns seem to me almost Muslim, or Muslim influenced.

And then give the Virgin a melting wax nose? I mean, what is that? Why does she have that extra drooping skin hanging on either side of her nostrils? What human being did the scribe ever see who had those things? Who has ever had a mouth that small? Eyeliner that bad? I don't get it.
