Jax 45 Pit 42

Dispirited Ketchup Bottle today.

Man. 45 points at home in the cold to a warm weather city team. Most pernts Stillers have ever given up in a playoff game at home.

Jax beat Pit 30-9 at the beginning of the season. Pit wanted revenge. Got dispirited instead. Then I saw this headline:

Ben Roethlisberger plans to return to Steelers next season

I groaned audibly. It will be Roethlisberger's 15th season with Pittsburgh. Only team he's ever played for.

There is not enough player movement (for my taste) in the NFL. I am so goddamned sick of Tom Brady, completing his 15th season, at age 40. I lost interest in following tennis for the same reason. How long have the fucking Williams sisters been around? As a one person sport, tennis is even more boring to me: a player who reaches the top is likely to stay there until (s)he retires. There is generational change in tennis. Margaret Court gives way to Yvonne Goolagong (that's how far back I go); Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, how the fuck long did Sampras rule men's tennis?  Change is glacial in tennis and it's fucking BORING! Change is glacial in the NFL and it's the No Fun League. It seems like it's the same problems year after year after year for the Steelers. Always good, often very good, great only once in the Roethlisberger era. How long was Dan Marino with the Miami Dolphins? Got to ONE Super Bowl. Every year, same problem: no running game. "We're wasting the Marino years," coach Don Shula said to owner Joe Robbie one time early on. The NFL needs player movement: trades, free agency--When was the last time an NFL player at the top of his career moved? Happens all the time in basketball, in soccer, even in baseball. The NFL? Never. BOR-ING.
