Pitt got seventeen points in AP top twenty-five voting, good for twenty-ninth most points, well short of #25 Wake Forest's 118.

This is the Great Middle of the ACC. This is #25 Wake Forest's season so far:

Aside from Rice and Elon game, a three-point win, a six-point win, a three-point win, a three-point loss, a two-point win. None of the teams they've played, beaten or lost to, is worth a shit this year.

Ohio State jumped Clemson into third place in the voting after another eye-pleasing shellacking, this time 52-3 at Northwestern. What did Clemson do wrong, though? ho-ho-ho. They went to Louisville and pounded the red out of a pretty good "Cardinals" team. It wasn't this week, it was September 28 at North Carolina, a 21-20 escape. The "Buckeyes" have had no such close call.

Wisconsin fell seven places to thirteenth after losing to perfectly wretched Illinoise.

Minnesota rose three places to seventeenth after blowing out always tough Ruptures. The "Golden Gophers" have one more week to wear the glass slipper, home to Maryland. After they finish with their turtle soup they'll be a blingy 8-0 and prolly in the top fifteen. Then: home to #6 Paterno-Sandusky. Man, they may get to 9-0. G.G.'s may win that game, I'm tellin' ya. In 2016, Minnesota, then undefeated as well, went to Pedo Valley to play a 2-2, fragile PSU. It was the pivotal game of PSU's season. Had they lost that game the whole shebang under Deez Nuts may have gone sideways. They didn't. PSU hung on in overtime, didn't lose another game in the regular season and played a game for the ages in the Rose Bowl (albeit a loss). This year, on November 9, an admittedly more talented PSU team, but one that I, at least, am not completely sold on, will go to Minnesota. They may go to Minnesota undefeated and ranked in the top five or, after a bye week November 2, they may go with one loss, next week at Michigan State. Anyway, after PSU, Minnesota goes to #20 Iowa, then to Northwestern, then finishes at home against #13 Wisconsin. Minnesota is not going to go undefeated; they are going to lose one or two or three of those last four.

Undefeated #14 Boise State went to Provo, Utah to tangle with the 2-4 "Fighting Mormons" of Brigham Young Saturday. "Smurfs" got the worst of that tangle, 28-25. You cannot do that. A Group of Five team has to win all of their games. You cannot lose to another team outside the Power conferences. You get smacked hard if you do that and Boise got paddled by the voters, falling eight places to twenty-second.
