The National Concussion League oddly made news yesterday. No, there wasn't Tuesday Night Football. There was an owners meeting. What could go wrong? Quite a bit, in truth. Jim Irsay, owner of the Indy "Colts" came out of the meeting and held forth for 12 minutes on "Redskins" owner Daniel Snyder. It may be just the way Irsay speaks but he sounded drunk to me. In any event, his message was clearly articulated: SNYDER OUT! He wants the league to force Snyder to sell.
Then, a few hours later it was leaked--this was a closed-door meeting now!--that Dallas owner Jerry Jones, 80 years young, had instructed newlywed fellow owner Robert Kraft, 81, "Don't fuck with me." This flare was ignited by of all things discussion of whether to engage commissioner Roger Goodell in contract extension negotiations. Neither octogenarian owner opposes re-upping Roger! Jer merely wants (and wanted last time too) some clear performance metrics for Roger to meet for "bonuses" in his $63.9M/year salary. Bob, I guess, did not. Don't know why such a dry statistical discussion should warrant such drama from Mr. Jones but this is the National Concussion League, violence is the reason we love it.
