Murdaugh was cross-examined for more than six hours, beginning on
Thursday and continuing until a few minutes ago. The prosecution made
the case that he was lying to the jury in the same way that he had lied
to clients, loved ones and friends many times over the years: while
looking them right the eye. And prosecutors also made Murdaugh’s
explanation of his movements on the night of the murders sound unlikely.
But did they prove the largely circumstantial case beyond a reasonable
doubt?Reporting from Walterboro, S.C.
