What if The People Are Crazy?

"What Makes Trump Act That Way? A Psychiatrist and a Psychologist Weigh In."-NYT letters to editor

I read the two letters. There have been books also.

You know, there are checks in place to remove a dangerously ill man from the presidency, the 25th Amendment in particular. But there is nothing to prevent such a man from assuming the office in the first place. The case of Trump is both retrospective and prospective. That is, he was president and "acted that way", and the 25th Amendment was never triggered; and he may be president again. And there is nothing, with all we know about him, with all of the warning signs that have been blaring now for seven years including four years in the office, that disqualifies him from winning the presidency again: no board of experts will examine him to determine fitness, not even a criminal conviction prevents it! And yet--There be any doubt.--his re-ascension to the Oval Office would be the end of Democracy in America. The result, Democracy in America, can be achieved--or thwarted--only by process, democracy. And what if voters are as crazy as he is?
