"NSA and GCHQ target Tor network that protects anonymity of web users."-The Guardian.

Bigger story.

"The National Security Agency has made repeated attempts to develop attacks against people using Tor, a popular tool designed to protect online anonymity, despite the fact the software is primarily funded and promoted by the US government itself."

I have never used Tor, which stands for "The Onion Router," which I had never heard of. The NSA operation targeting Tor was/is called "EgotisticalGiraffe," which, needless to say, I had never heard of either. This is the operational outline for...EgotisticalGiraffe:

Overa||C|assification This briefing is classified TOP SECRET USA, FVEY (Heh-heh-heh)

Hundreds of thousands of users
Dissidents (Iran, China, etc) (Chinese dissidents I have heard of.)
(S//SI/REL) Terrorists! (That's in the original.)
